Effectiveness of implant

Not sure this is in the right place but this is the closest topic I could find.
Has anyone ever had problems with the implant (nexplanon) in the last 6 months before it’s due to be changed?
In the last 3 years I can probably count on one hand how many periods I have had and when I do, I don’t get pain/symptoms usually just a week of spotting. For the last week my breasts have been really painful and nipples sore too (sorry) along with period aching rather than pain but no signs of a period at all. Is it possible the implant has stopped working or does this not happen? Thanks in advance 😊

I dont bleed at all on the implant, so when I had a small bleed 4 months before it was due to be replaced I just called and had it changed early just in case.
If you are overweight even slightly it can use it up a little more quickly.

I have had three and always needed it changed a little early. I'm overweight (though not obese) which may be why though.

Oh - the doctor said it would still be working fine as a contraceptive despite getting spotting.

missnevermind I wonder why they agreed to change it if there was no chance it had stopped working?

Just very odd for me to suddenly get these symptoms when I wouldn't normally even when not on contraception...

Ive been using the implant now for nearly 20 years and also before that the contraceptive injection. I am also at my heaviest. My clinic trust that I know my own body and nearly as much about this method as they do 😄
As for your aches and pains - is this the first time you have used an implant? So you have nothing to judge it’s lengh of effectiveness against yet, we are all individuals, maybe it is running low now towards the end and this is how your body responds to the lower hormone level?

I had the implant 3 times for the full amount of time and I always used to get irregular spotting/bleeding in the last few months before it was due to be changed, despite having no periods at all for the rest of the time. It never stopped working, and when i had my 4th one taken out after 28 months to ttc I got pregnant after 3 months

Thanks for all your replies. This is the 3rd implant I have had. First was implanon before I had my daughter and now on the second nexplanon since she was born. Never had the symptoms before but now they have completely gone and no signs of a period either so very odd.
