How will I feel at 25 weeks, booking a holiday

Thinking of going away in September when I'll be 25 weeks, not sure how I will feel by then if I'm going to be really tired?

Na I'd say that's a good time to go! Lots of energy and not too big a bump. Would it involve a long flight? Just thinking you might be uncomfortable sitting for that long.

I went to Portugal when I was 24 weeks pregnant with twins. I didn’t enjoy the flight much but that was more due to the toddler being annoying! All else was great!

Febe123 · 04/07/2018 18:22

Thanks, that's good news

I'm going to Spain at 31 weeks. I'm bloody well going to enjoy it whether I like it or not!

If you are going to somewhere with a climate similar to the UK’s atm I wouldn’t advise it. I suppose some people are more heat tolerant than others but I absolutely hate it at the best of times, now I am pregnant it is literally killing me.

If it will be colder then yeah, go for it. I’m 22 weeks atm and I have loads more energy than I did during the first trimester.

We've just booked to go to the Costa Brava end of Sept into early Oct and I will be a similar gestation. I think it will be fine, but I personally wouldn't want to go somewhere very hot or go much later than that.

Havetothink · 04/07/2018 19:36

I'm 26 weeks and I would love a holiday.

BlueBug45 · 04/07/2018 19:46

25 weeks you will extremely likely be fine. Any later then you may hit the third trimester then have issues with fit to fly notes and possibly being tired.

TigerDragonMonkey · 04/07/2018 19:54

I went to Florida at 28 weeks and I had a great time. The walking was a bit tiring (plus no rides at Disney!) but all round it was a good time to have a holiday.

Grumpos · 04/07/2018 20:48

Went to Marbella at 28 weeks, flew back at 29 weeks. Had a fab time, gorgeous weather and lovely to lay around and do nothing for a week. We stayed in an apartment so some nights we just chilled and others we went for local dinners, nothing too taxing.
I think I’d have enjoyed it even more if I’d been slightly earlier, I wasn’t in pain or uncomfortable but would have been less tired in general if I’d gone 2/3 weeks before.
I say go and enjoy - obvs check your medical insurance and probably stick to shorter flights for comfort!

cookiesaurus · 04/07/2018 22:40

I'm currently 24 weeks and feel fine tbh! My ankles are a bit swollen but I just need to drink more!

I'm going on holiday to Greece in August when I will be 30 weeks. We've booked a water sports holiday so that I can just lie in the sun whilst DH keeps active!

Enjoy the next few weeks Smile

We booked a holiday in the Alps before I got pregnant, which then coincided with me being 26 weeks and on crutches for pelvic girdle pain.

It was surprisingly manageable - I booked wheelchair assistance at the airport and got priority boarding. Couldn't do any of the walking we'd planned, but I packed plenty of books and spent a lot of time sat in cafes admiring the views while the rest of them climbed every mountain.

The break did me a world of good, and the timing was great - I felt a lot better than I had done earlier in the pregnancy. I did need a lot of rests and loo stops though.

arghhhhhhh · 05/07/2018 13:21

It depends where you are wanting to go? I went to center Parcs at 24/25 weeks....didn't enjoy a second of it as it was so unbelievably tiring. I'd of much preferred to be by a pool or beach. More travelling but much more relaxing.

usernotfound0000 · 05/07/2018 13:26

I'm going away at 30 weeks and hoping I'll enjoy it! I wouldn't expect to do much, I'm struggling going long distances in the heat we're having at the moment and I'm only 21 weeks, but if it is a beach/relaxing holiday you'll be fine.

DailyFailAreTwats · 05/07/2018 13:27

Just back from a Greek hol at 26 - 28 weeks with no issues. Lovely to have a break! A couple of days with swollen feet for it didn't stop me doing anything. Mind you, sipping water whilst DH tucked into the local vino of an evening was a bit dull....

SoyDora · 05/07/2018 13:28

All pregnancies are different so impossible to say really. I went away multiple times in my first pregnancy right up until 34 weeks and was fine every time. Second pregnancy I went abroad at 32 weeks and the biggest issue was having DD1 on my knee on the plane... there wasn’t much room for a bump and a toddler!
Currently 15 weeks pregnant and on holiday abroad... apart from still vomiting daily and food aversions I’m having a great time Smile

SoyDora · 05/07/2018 13:30

Oh and went to Center parcs at 30 weeks with number 2 (with 18 month old DD1 and again it was fine, if I was tired I just had a rest. I don’t find being on holiday more tiring than being at home.

claire7930 · 05/07/2018 14:13

I flew to Vegas for a fortnight at 25 weeks. It was hot & uncomfortable to walk too far, but the flight itself wasn't too bad (we booked extra legroom near the toilets).

dingdongdigeridoo · 05/07/2018 18:11

I went to the Canaries at 26 weeks. It was a nice dry heat, so not too uncomfortable. I couldn’t walk much due to SPD so mostly lounged, ate a lot and did some organised tours without too much walking.

I didn’t realise pregnant women could sunburn more easily Blush, so watch out if you’re going somewhere hot. Flight was only 4 hours so not too bad, but I definitely recommend flight socks. My ankles didn’t swell at all! I might wear them in future even when I’m not pregnant and flying.

MorrisDancingViv · 05/07/2018 18:16

During my last pregnancy 20-30 weeks were the nicest for me. I've booked to go away at 25 weeks with this pregnancy so I hope I'm feeling the same (although so far this pregnancy has been horrible and I'm really struggling with this heat so I'm a bit worried now).

It's a beach holiday so we're not planning on doing much other than pool/beach and hoping dd3 will do a couple of sessions in the kids club so fairly optomistic it should be OK.

Verbena87 · 05/07/2018 18:18

My energy levels were good but I only stopped throwing up at 24 weeks.

SoyDora · 05/07/2018 18:38

I’m still throwing up on holiday, but I still prefer throwing up here with a nice day in the sun with my family ahead of me instead of a day doing pre school runs, taking DC to swimming lessons etc, chores and work!

muffinthepuffin · 05/07/2018 20:34

I went away last weekend at 28+4 and struggled as it was a city break, I'd forgotten how much was walking (and drinking), and with my SPD I can't walk far! I didn't have it in my first pregnancy so thought I'd be fine Sad

surreygirl1987 · 06/07/2018 17:15

I'm currently in Greece at 28 weeks and though it's very hot I feel.far better than when I travelled in first trimester :)
