Strange/disgusting taste in mouth

I’m 10 weeks tomorrow and for the past two days I have had an AWFUL taste in my mouth. Right at the back of my tongue and it won’t go away. If I have mints it goes for a bit and then returns, it’s making me feel sick!

Does anyone know how to get rid of the taste?

Sometimes you can't, it's a relatively common symptom, sorry!

It's a classic pregnancy symptom sadly. I also had a very odd taste in my mouth for the first tri but it did improve massively in the second and third. Just keep munching the mints Wink

Oh god yes, I had this with mine.

Salt n vinegar crisps or tangfastics were the only thing that helped disguise it temporarily.

It was like awful hangover 'cardboard mouth'.

It went after first trimester though

Yea normal ... I had the taste of blood /metal and loads of saliva (like you have just before you throw up) constantly until 14 weeks .... it should go away soon. Mints, Ice lollies, citrus tastes and salt and vinegar crisps all helped a bit x

I used to gargle with a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and water, which also tasted disgusting but helped a lot. Salt water works if you don’t have bicarbonate of soda (I sometimes used salt water if I was out and about without any bicarb). Gaviscon seemed to help a bit as well. Much sympathy it was awful.

Oh I had it till about a week after birth btw!

PasstheStarmix · 04/07/2018 09:27

It’ll go in it’s own time, it’s a normal symptom unfortunately but shouldn’t last too long hopefully.

PasstheStarmix · 04/07/2018 09:27

I had it for one trimester if that helps.

Maybe try Corsodyl toothpaste- you can get it in Boots or on Amazon.

I've had it all the way through. I find drinking anything other than water makes it worse so I only drink water and possibly the occasional juice Diet Coke or tea

Lasted weeks for me, nothing got rid of it properly, it's down to hormones.

I still have it at 20 weeks - sorry!

I just have to keep lots of mints handy - and lemon slices in water help a bit too.

Thanks everyone! It’s a little disappointing knowing it may continue but it’s all worth it in the end :)
