Hi all!

I am 20 weeks today (I think) and we had our 20 week scan this morning.

However, I've now noticed on my scan printout that it says: GA 24w3d
Does this mean I'm 24 weeks and 3 days instead??? Because that's quite a difference!! I've attached a photo also.

The lady doing the scan didn't mention anything about it so I'm really not sure what's going on

Am I a month further along than I thought??

It looks like you’re measuring ahead, ie your baby is big. I would talk to the midwife about it just incase it puts you at increased risk of gestational diabetes

To add, your 20 week scan is generally around 20 weeks so you could be further along than you think (you don’t seem sure of your dates).

The comment above is massively scaremongering. It looks like an error, is what is looks like. They don’t offer anomaly scans at 24w3d. They would definitely have said something. Your dates will not change and it does not mean your baby is big or you are at risk of anything. Just ask the Mw next time.

In the first trimester babies generally all grow at the same pace, this is how they date scans. Most likely you were mistaken about you dates. I had something similar happen. I though I was twelve weeks but was told I was 15. Apparently its quite common to have a period or two while pregnant. The baby continued to grow normally and I went into labour on the due date calculated using the scan.

20 weeks is not in the first trimester

If OP was given the date by scan in her first trimester that is the date that would and should be used. It will usually line up roughly with LMP, but not always. If it doesn’t the scan date is considered correct.

No sonographer would change your dates by 4.5 weeks at an anomaly scan in the second trimester.

Could be an error, because i had not had a period a few months before I fell pregnant they still put the last date in so my dating scan and 12 week scan said 23 and 26 weeks on it! They may not have corrected it to scan measurements yet which are more accurate. If your baby was measuring big they wouldn't correct the GA! Mine measured big after 20 weeks and it never affected the GA also they would tell you if you potentially might be at risk for GD from the tummy measurements as they did with me then so ignore that comment.

@Drchinnery this would make sense!!

As my last period was over a month before I got pregnant, so initially I thought I was around 5 weeks further along than I actually was. They questioned me about my last period but I deffo did not have one in those weeks before I feel pregnant. So maybe this is where it's come from. Thank you
