Birthing ball - best thing to do??

I'm 38 weeks now and totally had enough!
Using my birthing ball loads as it's the comfiest place to sit, but any tips on what's the best thing to do with it?
Bounce, sway from side to side, rock, circle?
Doing everything I can to get this baby in position!! Grin

My pregnancy yoga teacher says circling your hips anticlockwise can get baby's back in the right place (at the front and ideally slightly to the left). Otherwise bouncing is the best thing to persuade your cervix to start dilating, apparently, as the baby's head presses against it. Good luck!

Does anyone know if this works? I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and want to avoid an induction.

I had a sit on it last night and it's so much more comfortable than my sofa. I just did whatever I felt like; a bit of bouncing, then round in a circle helped the comfort then forwards and backwards felt comfortable.

Ohh thanks! I'm praying I don't go over so il do everything I can to help!!

I don't know. I've read it in various places but I've not looked for any actual studies on it.

I used the ball with dd1 and Dd2, two lovely straightforward labours. We moved house before I got pregnant with ds, lost the birthing ball in the move. He was back to back and the worst Labour of all! If I could go back....

I circled on mine from about 38 weeks! It gives nice relief from that niggly low backache.

I had a horror story of an induction with DS (a week admitted to hospital with what felt like 300 pessaries, 59 sweeps, waters broken and then eventually on the drip only for him to be back to back) and it left me quite scared of being induced with DD. A few weeks of circling and I went into natural fast labour on her due date! I swear it was the circling that did it!!!

I did a lot of bouncing and circling and ended up being induced - she was in a good position though!
I think if it feels comfy that’s good enough at this stage!

My waters went when I was rotating my hips Grin
