Problem with 28 week blood test?

I had my 28 week blood test done last week. I have received a text saying i need to contact the antenatal clinic. Unfortunately by the time i saw the text they have closed up for the evening. Do you know what they test for at 28 weeks so i have an idea of what's wrong? I feel frustrated that i'm going to be worrying about it all evening now Sad

It’s usually iron and rhesus antibodies I think?

Could be that you’re low on iron and need tablets. Could be they have found rhesus antibodies in which case don’t worry - as long as they know they will treat you.

Or of course it could just be that they’ve been unable to test - sometimes lab error or clotting/haemolysis means they have to retest.

Was it a straight blood test or did you have a GTT or anything?

Blood type and full blood count I was told. I got a call once about low platelets asking me to redo the blood test, but could be anemia or something else I'm no expert. If it was very urgent I'm sure they would have called not just text.

Thanks for your replies, it was just a routine blood test. I didn't have to fast so i assume they didn't test for glucose. Hopefully it is something minor, I've not had any pregnancy problems up to now but it doesn't take too much to set me off worrying!

I had the same come back from my 28 week blood test and it was low iron x

I had this and they had just rejected it because the writing on the vial smudged and had to have it redone

I had this- it shit me up and I had a sleepless night. But they just hadnt labelled my sample properly and I needed it redoing

I’ve had incorrect labelling on bloods twice now!!! I had to have repeat of both 12 wks and 28 wks bc midwife wrote the wrong DOB on one and incorrect date of sample on the other Confused
It could well be just to retest

Other than that they test for blood group again and also iron - I got a call the day after my 28 weeks as showed as deficient, went and picked up prescription that afternoon - feel a lot more “with it” now!

It is most likely retest or low iron, try not to panic!

It sounds like they mislabel things quite often! I'll be quite annoyed with them if i've been concerned all night just for them to tell me that
