6 weeks pregnant and bleeding

Hi all, I’m 6 weeks pregnant and this is my first pregnancy so it’s all very new for me! From about 4pm yesterday I have been experiencing very light bleeding and mild cramping. I spoke to the Early Pregnancy Unit who have given me an appointment for 2 days time. I’m really trying not to worry until my appointment but I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences and everything has been okay? TIA x

Not personally but my best friend bled with both of her healthy girls at around 6 weeks. Cramping is very normal in the beginning, fingers crossed that it all settles down for you

Ive had light spotting for 2 weeks now, had a scan and all was ok, 8+3 now and hoping all is going to be ok for 12 week! It’s so worrying

Thank you for your replies girls. I will just try and be positive and hopefully I will get some reassurance when I have my appointment. It just seems like such a long road to week 12!

During my first pregnancy I was in and out of hospital because of bleeding. It was never heavy, but I always wanted it checked. Mainly after sex. They advised it could be too rough and also something about the blood flow during pregnancy (sorry I cannot be more precise, as it was over two years ago).
I was so worried the first time I saw it; my heart sank. But if it isn’t heavy, or getting heavier, has no clots and you’re not in a great deal of pain, try your best not to worry; I know it’s easier said than done.

It’s likely to be nothing to worry about, as believe it or not, bleeding during pregnancy is more common than you think.

I personally do not recall experiencing any cramps, but everyone is different and over the years I’ve read many threads about stomach cramps .etc.

Thanks for your reply MumOfTwo2018. I think it may have been sex that started my bleeding off! I had an early scan and baby is well and has a little heartbeat. I felt so much relief! I know it’s early days still but I definitely won’t panic as much if I experience the same symptoms again x

I had spotting and cramps that felt a lot like period pain up until about seven weeks, then it all settled down. Am now 18 weeks and all is fine. Fingers crossed for you OP.

I had bleeding at 6 weeks and had a scan with EPU 2 days later. Everything was OK for me- they say at 6 weeks the placenta is attaching to the uterine lining and sometimes can shed endometrium.

I’ve just seen your reply and I’m so happy all is well!!! I was such a worrier with my first pregnancy, I was always getting checked when I bled. If it happens again, don’t feel bad for getting a checked - no matter how often it happens.

MumOfTwo - I’m a bit of a worrier in every day life so it was always going to be the way but you’ve made me feel like I haven’t been overreacting! I am so nervous to have sex again now though... my poor partner .

Don’t be worried about sex though - bubba won’t be harmed, no matter how rough. Enjoy and blossom.

Hi...I had bleeding from week 6 to week 9
I went to the early pregnancy unit at week 6 and 8 and they said I had a haematoma and by week 9 it passed...I'm now 16 weeks and all's good....I worried about everything at first xx

Haha I read a page that said no matter how big men think they are no man is big enough to hurt or even get near the baby ....apparently the placenta cushions the baby too so sex is fine all the way through pregnancy....xx
