Stiff/sore lower back in early pregnancy. Normal?

Hey everyone.

Is it normal for your lower back to be super stiff/sore in early pregnancy? I'm only around four weeks along but have noticed that my back feels very stiff and it hurts to bend over. It doesn't hurt when I'm standing upright, just when I'm bending over. Is this normal?

I had a miscarriage in April so everything is a worry Grin Thanks!

Have you had back pain before?

CobaltRose · 29/06/2018 15:49

Yeah, occasionally. I'm thinking it may be due to heavy lifting/sleeping funny.

Heya hun im 6ish week and I woke up this morning with a bad back! I have also had a bad back but some reason it kills today. I don't no if I've lay funny in the night but I also have also got a cramp/ ache on my right side by my ovaries.
I have had 6 mc already and am petrified that it will happen again. The aches seem to stop of sitting still or standing still! So I'm watching this post for some reasurance 😊! All the best xx

Relaxin starts kicking in at some point in the first trimester and that can give you backache. Try to bend from the knees rather than at your waist. It's a good habit anyway but by the time you're 26 weeks you really don't want to bend at the waist!
