How long after mucous plug?

Morning all!
I'm 40+3 today and had sort of period pains on and off yesterday and through the night and woke up this morning to a lost mucous plug! Wahoo! It was exactly what the book said it would be like, clear with pink tinges in it.
So... Mumsnet ladies, how long did you go from plug losing to holding a baby???
I'm super excited but of course the internet is killing the vibe by saying it can be days or weeks until proper labour starts?!

With DC1 I lost mucus plug in the morning, waters went at 7pm and baby born at 3am. Good luck!

Janusrock · 29/06/2018 09:47

Lost mucous plug. Got all excited- 4 days later and still nothing. Not even a contraction. Had to be induced and ended up with a c-section.

sleepyducks · 29/06/2018 09:50

Lost mine about 8am, labour started that night at 12pm with waters breaking. Baby was born the following day at 1pm

Forumqueen · 29/06/2018 09:51

Mucus plug went on the Monday afternoon, contraction started the next morning then had my baby two days after then (Thursday night) good luck x

Popopokemon · 29/06/2018 09:53

I was holding my baby 5 hours after I lost mine. Hope its soon for you!

Eggoispreggo · 29/06/2018 10:44

Thank you all, good to hear that lots of people see things happening soon after but totally get that it can be days and days as well.
I'm such an organiser so it's really difficult to have to just go with the flow and not be in charge of what's happening!!
Will get yoga ball bouncing and walk to the shops and see if I can encourage things 😂

My mucus plugs were vile, they looked like someone had hacked up a lung in my undies 🤢.

I went into labour the following day after losing it with all three of mine.

TheVeryHungryDieter · 29/06/2018 12:34

I lost mine at 10:30am while waiting to be examined by midwife. DD was born at 12:07.

SnugasaGrobug · 29/06/2018 12:37

Thought I was in labour with mild contractions at 5am

Lost plug at 8am, then more at about 11.30am (more bloody that time), arrived at hospital 8cm dilated at around 12.30/45

DD born 7pm

Good luck OP! 😀

Eggoispreggo · 29/06/2018 13:12

Yay more of what I want to hear!! Thank you ladies :)
Nothing really happening currently, some more period pains and as the book elegantly describes it 'loose bowel movements' so I'm hopeful. Although walking to the shops seems to have stopped the pains strangely.
Bump is quite hard all the time currently but not painful so assuming I'm having Braxton Hicks all the time? I've never noticed having them before this point in pregnancy so don't know what they feel like?

MrsBlondie · 29/06/2018 13:15

2 days later.

lostfrequencies · 29/06/2018 13:16

Just a few hours for me! Best of luck, how exciting!!

Tiredmum100 · 29/06/2018 13:19

I think it was about 5 days with dc 1 but we same day with dc 2!

gingergenius · 29/06/2018 13:47

Good luck op!!

Eggoispreggo · 29/06/2018 15:50

Thank you again for the replies 😊
I feel like we're looking more at a couple of days than hours, no real progress I don't think. Am having a nice day out walking and chilling at home but would like things to get going!!!
Will let you know what happens. I figure a kid will emerge eventually!?! 😂

Mine was a week too... sorry!

Mumtobeluc · 29/06/2018 16:07

I'm 40 +4 hope you have your baby soon. I've only seen bits of mine after a sweep think I got a while to go yet but who knows could happen anytime for us. :)

YummySushi · 29/06/2018 16:41

Egg usually labour starts in the evening and late at night so u never know! That’s when the hormones peak !

60sname · 29/06/2018 16:43

With DS1 it was two days - lost at 40+2 and he was born at 40+4.

Good luck - I was due with DC2 on Tuesday too and currently no sign of any movement...

SoyDora · 29/06/2018 21:51

About 20 mins for me Grin. I didn’t lose mine until the pushing stage with both DC.
