Big tummy still..

Been for a scan today at 36+2 weeks. Previous baby small. Posted about this around 32 weeks also but i am more worried now. Midwife/scan lady said babys tummy is very big still. Estimated weight 8lb. Fluid a bit high but not concerened. She told me although i passed the GTT i NEED another and that the consultant should arrange that. Got in to see the consultant and she doesn't want to do another GTT. Doesn't see why babys tummy should be measuring big as really i don't have that big of a bump. More concerned about swelling in feet and ankles and slight rise in blood pressure. Doesn't want me to stop taking aspirin at 37 weeks as agreed and to keep taking it till 39 weeks when i have my c section booked, which I'm slightly concerened about taking it till then. Can i ask for stories on women who were told babys bellys were big? Was everything ok? I can't stop worrying something may be wrong. I have another scan in 2 weeks and baby may come earlier x

Not direct but my brothers baby had a lot of growth scans and they were told she not only had a very large belly but that she was overall very small indeed. She was induced at 40 wks and was 7lb and perfect, no issues. Her tummy looked normal to me though she is a short stocky build. She is 1 next month and has been perfectly healthy. Don't know if that helps xxx

Just to add, baby was induced as sil had developed pre eclampsia. Don't know if it's connected but you will want to keep an eye on that as raised blood pressure etc are symptoms xxx

Yes I'm going for urine and blood pressure tests 2 times a week now. Just can't stop worrying now that it may be chromsomal. Wish i never bloody googled xx

My baby's belly was so big on scans, off the chart! I also had a tonne of extra fluid (which I worried no end about!) and the only thing worth mentioning is that she was a quite big baby when she was born (9lb 11!) she was also born by c section.

Nobody every mentioned I should be worried about the large belly. Like you I passed the GD test, but to be honest I think I might have had GD at the end anyway.

Good luck op and try not to worry, I was told it's really common

Starlive22 · 28/06/2018 23:47

What chromosomal problem are you worried about specially op? I worried because I had so much extra fluid that there was a chromosome problem, but baby was perfect, like I said, just big!

I'd say any chromosome problems would have been picked up at this stage by scan or test anyway (assuming you had the triple testing for the trisomy conditions) so try not to worry.

Easier said than done, I know xx

SamanthaH92 · 29/06/2018 07:20

@starlive22 no i didn't have the screening done but i would like to think they would be able to tell if there was any chromosomal problems as I've had a lot of scans. DS is my worry at the moment thats what's come up on google. Xx

Also i was put on aspirin because off DD1 being small. Yet now this baby is weighing more and the tummys big they are not happy. They say the aspirin wouldn't cause a big tummy xx

I'm sure there is nothing to worry about, DS wasn't even mentioned to me at all re: the large abdomen although I had had the Harmony test done, so maybe that was why?

Tbh as you didn't have the screening and you are this far along there wouldn't be much you could do anyway so try not to worry too much and enjoy the last bits of pregnancy (although I feel for you in this heat!!)

SamanthaH92 · 29/06/2018 09:17

@starlive22 no there isn't anything we could do this far along. From my scan from 20 weeks it said everything was normal and no abnormalities were found. Just google has me worried. I need to stop looking tbh but can't help my self lol. Consultant has not mentioned any chances of chromosome abnormality, she hasn't said much about it. She doesn't see why the tummy is big. She had a feel of the baby and said it didn't feel big. Yes this heat is awful. I haven't been leaving the house unless i abserloutly have too! Its a bit cooler today though. Xx

If you were really worried you could always have the Harmony test, I know you can have it late term. It's just a blood test. Of course it's incredibly pricy so it's not for everyone but might put your mind at rest if you could afford it.

Like I said though it's probably just a perfect little chubby baba and nothing to worry yourself about at all.

Stay away from google if you can x
