Advice on being signed off work...

Hi,

I have got myself into a right state. I am hugely over worked, manage a large team and we are under resourced (which my work admit). I work a lot of extra hours and the time I am in the office is unbearably pressurised. I was planning on putting up with it but just hating it all the time. However the last week I have stopped sleeping, feeling very weak and dizzy all day. I went to the doctor yesterday who has signed me off for a week....I feel so bad and guilty for not being in work I just can't shake it. My doctors note says pregnancy and work related stress. Would this note mean the sickness doesn't get counted in regards to my sick days because it says pregnancy related on it? Not sure because it also says work related? I am 20 weeks. Thank you in advance. Xx

I think it will count towards pregnancy! I've been signed off for 2 weeks due to morning sickness so try not to feel guilty! Many do it, it's hard to work and be pregnant at the same time when you're feeling rubbish. Maybe you can call the GP and ask them to amend the note to just say pregnancy related? I don't think you actually have to give the note to employer until you return to work? X
