27 weeks pregnant and having hideous rib pain that is making life really miserable at the minute. It used to be left side only but now all over and extending into back. I just don’t know how I’m going to cope with the rest of this pregnancy! I’m ok when I’m not wearing a bra and can slouch and get comfy on the sofa, but soon as I leave the house, sit for longer than 10 minutes anywhere I’m in so much pain. Midwife just said Its uterus pushing up. Can anyone relate to this?

Yes! Most definitely! Mid back tightens up as your centre of gravity changes and your ribcake has to expand, which makes rib joints at the back tight. Diaphragm tension from uterus moving upwards makes the front tight! I have found chiropractic care very helpful (disclaimer: I am a chiropractor! But I am also currently pregnant and being treated by a colleague). Hope you find something that helps.

Ps am assuming you’ve been remeasured for bra?

OMG I had this in my first pregnancy! I would come home, take my crop top off (too sore for bra) and and lie on the sofa with my arms raised above my head. I later realised my TENS machine was very good for helping and used it most night. Defo recommend x

Thanks both for the suggestions - will most definitely try tens machine and had already been thinking about physio. I’ve been going to physio led Pilates but might get some 1-1 time in also. I can’t get any relief once I have to leave the house and live a normal life- it’s so painful and uncomfortable! I had no idea pregnancy could be like this

I (literally) feel your pain op.

I’m 27 weeks tomorrow with twins and one of the little darlings has been breech for the last four weeks. I have a hard, ever growing head lodged right in my ribcage. It is agony. I can’t sit for more than ten minutes without wanting to crySad

@Alicia870 I had this with my first two and I'm expecting it with this little bump! I found one of those v shaped pillows really helped me, I took it everywhere with me!! Xx

Aw I’m sorry to hear other people struggled too! I’m not sure it’s being made worse cos of my big boobs! I have quite a small frame from the size of my chest and thinking it may be something to do with it. Does anyone have any tips on good supportive but comfortable bras?
