Has anyone had heavy bleeding early on & it was ok?

I had IUI at the beginning of June. 15 days later I got a BFP. This morning at 5.30am, I went to the loo & was bleeding. It was red. More than spotting, less than usual period. It has gotten heavier as the day has gone on. I'm 4wks 5days, so a scab won't show anything really. GP said he could do a blood test but wouldn't 🙄 and I should do a pregnancy test again in a few days. My last pregnancy, I had a big bleed at 10 weeks. It turned out to be a haemorrhage and I now have my DS. Just wondering, I guess, if anyone has had the same thing happen early on & if it turned out ok? I realise i am most probably clutching at straws. Thank you.

Hey. Yes i have had3 miscarriages and 2 live births. I have bled in every single pregnancy. Some of the miscarriages i had brown blood which i was told might not be something to worry about. One of the live births, i had bright red blood and clots also. I thought i was miscarrying. Thankfully all was well. So it can go either way. Hope it goes well with you.

Yes I had lots of bleeding at about 6/7 weeks. Like a period. I really thought I had lost the baby. He’s 3 now! I really hope it works out for you and that baby is ok. Xxx

As i am also pregnant at the moment and very anxious already, I'm only 5 weeks, wondering how you are doing? Has the bleed gotten better or worse, stopped...

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 29/06/2018 14:46

Hi, it's still heavy, some clots (sorry tmi) still no pain. GP convinced it's an early miscarriage. I guess I am resigned to it being bad news but a small part of me is still hopeful 🙄

I had heavy bleeding about a week after conception (before I knew I was pregnant). I'd assumed it was my period as the flow was the same, although it was a little earlier than usual; my periods are normally like clockwork so I thought straight away that maybe it was implantation bleeding. I took an early detection test which came back negative and thought nothing more of it. Fast forward 4 more weeks when my next period was a no show - turns out I was pregnant and would have been at the time of the previous bleeding. Now currently 30+1 weeks pregnant and have had no problems Smile touch wood

Yes, I had one bleed when I was 5 wks pregnant with DS1 - was as heavy as a period for two days then stopped. All went fine after that.

I had what appeared to be normal 'periods' for 6 months with DS2 - withdrawal bleeds due to being on the pill, which is very unusual but I wasn't the first case my midwives/consultant had come across. As soon as I stopped taking the pill (not really needed when 6m pregnant!) the bleeding stopped happening. He was totally fine, no problems, a good weight and is now a very boisterous 5 year old!

Yes I had bad bleeding at ten weeks (in two bouts) but turned out ok and DD now nearly 15 yrs now Smile

Just wanted to post because I remember the terror sitting in the gynaecologist's office to this day, so I have some inkling of how you must be feeling. I hope it works out for you op x

Thank you for all your kind messages. I'm really hoping for a miracle. Dr said to do a pregnancy test next week to check. He said I could do one before then but I'm worried in case it shows positive but it's only because the pregnancy hormone hasn't yet left my body. I'm also dreading it being negative. 🙈

slapmyarse I hope you are surviving what must be ,really difficult weekend and can distract yourself a little bit. Thinking of you op x

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 02/07/2018 20:42

Thank you all for your kind replies. I've done 2 further tests and both positive, but very faint. Going to do a digital one tomorrow. I keep fluctuating from hope that everything will be ok to despair that it will be negative. I feel numb more than anything.

Just wanted to let you know that I had a big bleed at 4 weeks. I thought I had miscarried. I ended up in hospital abroad. We were having a lovely relaxing holiday. The dr in Cyprus told me it was an issue with a fibroid but baby was there. Different medical practices and a weeks bed rest before I flew home. Turned out I had SCH (sub chronic heamatoma...I can't even spell it). It was a tough few weeks of scans and appts and no matter how often they say don't worry, you do. The result of this trauma is a gorgeous, nearly 8 week old. He is happy (when he's not grumpy) and healthy. Call your EPU and let them know the situation. They were great with me and I had weekly scans for a month. Fingers crossed for you.

Chocwocdoodah · 02/07/2018 20:53

Yes, me too, at 6 weeks. As heavy as a period and it just kept coming. But I had a an internal scan and all was well and now I have my DS. Hope it all goes ok for you. x

Lottie2shoes · 03/07/2018 09:04

slapmy, thinking of you. I know how hard this time is. I hope you have a positive outcome and then this all will be a memory.

FortheloveofCod · 03/07/2018 10:23

I had this 3x in first trimester. The first was about 5.5wks, then 7.5wks and then at 11.5wks. the first bout was bright red with clots and so was the last (there was also pain too) and each time there was a gush of blood and was heavier than my period, so definitely thought it was a miscarriage. I had scans each time and it showed an SCH like the poster above. It was fine in the end and I have a 3year old son now. I was really worried, as prior to that I had miscarriages, so though I had issues with keeping pregnancies.

Either way, there is little you can do now but wait and see, although it is horrible not knowing what is happening. I would get bloods done if you can, as this would show if the pregnancy is viable. If you are testing with different tests the line may be more faint in some, but if it is very faint that may not be a good sign.

I hope it all works out ok. I have known a few people with this in early pregnancy, so it is more common than you think. A lack of pain could be a good sign, but even I had some pain and it was still a good outcome.

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 08/07/2018 12:44

Thank you for all your kind replies. Unfortunately, it was a miscarriage. I am gutted, but hoping I will go on to have another successful pregnancy soon. I really appreciate you all taking time to reply to me.
