MatB1 Form

Am 29 weeks and just realised today i haven’t had my matB1 form. after googling it says you must hand this into your employer before you are 25 weeks 😩 has anybody else experienced handing it in late? i’m really worried it's going to affect my maternity pay/leave!

also, where did most people get it from? i’m going to try and ring my midwife today but she’s really hard to get hold of.

You don't have to hand in your matb1 form until 21 days before you'd like your maternity leave starts, so legally they couldn't cause a problem if you handed it in now :) at 25 weeks you just need you have made your employer aware that you're pregnant and given them the due date. I got the info from here - www.gov.uk/maternity-pay-leave/how-to-claim

I don't have advise sorry but I need to know where to get mine from also, my next midwife appointment is at 28 weeks and I'm worried this will be too late! Can you get from doctors,?

HoneyBee03 · 27/06/2018 08:29

And yep, midwife gave me mine at my 24/25 week appointment. Do you have another appointment coming up so you can get it then? You could always let your employer know that you'll have the form by that date so they know you're on top of it.

I got mine from my Doctors surgery. Asked at reception and collected it a few days later. It can be completed by a midwife or GP.

I didn't get mine until I was 31 weeks as my midwife kept cancelling or not turning up for appointments (which meant my pre eclampsia got missed too)! Didn't cause any problems at work though, they already knew when I intended to finish and planned accordingly.

My midwife forgot to give me mine. I called up the Community Midwife line and they filled it out for me and left it at reception at my Doctor's surgery for me to collect any time.

It meant I handed it in a bit late (about a week or two) but my HR dept didn't seem to mind. Hopefully it will go through once I actually go on maternity!

Might be worth dropping your HR dept an email, just to explain? You might even be able to talk to a human where you work, but all my correspondance has been done via email.

Ask midwife or GP. Make an appointment. Some of them aren't done till after the baby is born! It's the mothers responsibility to ask for one.

Hi. I’m an hr manager. We just ask that matb1s are provided as soon as received but has to be ahead of payroll cut off for the month you are expecting to start receiving mat pay. Some companies may be stricter than us though (we did have a payroll manager for a while who was on the mean side about forms and deadlines) so best to check with hr/payroll

thanks this is really helpful. i’ll ring HR today and also my midwife to try and get it. i had a midwife appt on monday but forgot to ask and my next one isn’t until 35 weeks. i think they should offer it you! never mind.
