Has anyone used one off these apps to see if you can hear the baby’s heartbeat?? I’m thinking off buying one but also worried about wasting a fiver! Haha

They’re not real, none can work. Don’t waste your money

You can’t use a phone to hear a heartbeat. They’re all scams.

Aw thank you! I didn’t think it would work but really hoped it would! Hopefully apple bring out a good microphone one day and the app would actually work, it would make millions lol

Thanks ❤️

All just scams and don’t work. Apparantly my couch has a heart rate of 142 using these apps. It’s very dangerous.

The reviews show they are scams as well. Things like
“I opened the app and the heartbeat started sounding even before I touched my phone to my bump.”

Bowlofbabelfish · 27/06/2018 07:46

An iPhone doesn’t have the components to pick up a heartbeat. Midwives use a Doppler device which sends high frequency sound waves into the bump. These are then reflected, picked up by the receiver and then an algorithm is used (based on the Doppler effect, hence the name) to simulate what the heartbeat ‘sounds’ Like.

You need a monitor capable of doing that - none of that kit even exists within a phone and there is physically no way it can work.

Don’t buy a Home Doppler monitor either - they are hard to use and can provide either false panic or false reassurance.

Spend £5 on a stethoscope, you won't pick anything up for a long time (20ish weeks) but lots of fun to be had listening to various bits of your body - I usually get students to listen to the blood flow through the inner elbow.

As others have said, they don’t work. I downloaded one last year and picked up a heartbeat for a baby that I had unknowingly miscarried. They are foolish and dangerous. Get a real Doppler.
