Hi everyone.

Today I've just found out I'm pregnant following a miscarriage in April. I'm absolutely delighted but also terrified, not only because I've had a miscarriage before, but also because I've been drinking quite a bit over the past few days!

Due to the lovely weather I've gone to quite a few BBQs and have drunk quite a bit. Never enough to get drunk, but usually a couple of pints of cider or beer a night. Yesterday I drank schnapps and vodka! Again, not enough to get drunk but enough to concern me!

I'm only around 3/4 weeks pregnant. I feel so scared and guilty!

Thanks. Smile

Hi hun before I found out two days before I went out for a boozy night out along with smoking (me and OH hadn't been trying) and I felt awful about it everything is fine and I am currently 17 weeks with a very happy healthy baby. Don't feel to bad about it what means more is now and going forward with the rest of your pregnancy, I hope you have a lovely, healthy pregnancy xx

If you stop now you know you should be fine. Many women drink plenty before they find out they're pregnant and may only find out at 6-8 weeks.

I was sampling Guinness and whiskey literally a day or two before I found out I was pregnant . Also consumed large amounts of mayonnaise.

You should be absolutely fine. The second half of the first trimester is the critical bit for alcohol related damage. At the point you drank there’s no substantial link between the baby and your bloodstream.

Obviously don’t drink any more, but I wouldn’t be even slightly worried with what you describe (and I have a long research career in human development.)

Congratulations!

I drank heavily everyday and found out when I was 4 days late. So by then I think I must have been 4 weeks pregnant. Stopped as soon as I found out and had a normal happy pregnancy and no complications at birth. Perfectly healthy baby.

Congratulations Smile baby will be fine if you stop now Thanks

Most women eat & drink lots of stuff they would have avoided if they'd known they were pregnant. Do not worry.

Oh god I’m sure you’ll be fine. Before I found out I got sooo drunk in Leeds and was drinking red bulls and vodkas all night. Felt so guilty as I had also drank a bit before finding out I was pregnant. Think it’s just standard, as long as you stop now it won’t do any harm to baby.

Don't worry, my mate got wasted (I mean falling over drunk) one night on Malibu and found out a week later she was pregnant. Her son is now 17 and getting ready to go to uni to study something far too clever for me to ever understand. Didn't do him any harm. Oh and congrats btw xx

It'll be fine. As pp have said, a lot of women drink in early pregnancy, before they find out.
I went to a concert before I knew I was pregnant. I was more worried about the fact I was stood in the very front row, close to the speakers.
(FWIW I drank throughout my pregnancy, way way less than usual, but I still had some. My baby was fine. My mum smoked and drank heavily through all 3 of her pregnancies, we were all fine.

At 3/4 weeks pregnant the baby is a ball of cells. I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) that there is no shared blood supply at that point as it doesn't have vessels/organs only cells, so it should be unaffected.
