First feeling the baby - thought it would be more pleasant?

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and I've had this weird feeling in my lower abdomen for a few weeks now, at my 16 week sonogram I felt it and the midwife said it was the baby moving! I can definitely tell there's something moving now but, I always imagined it'd be a pleasant sensation whereas actually, it's a bit uncomfortable/unsettling?? I feel like some pregnancy imposter for not loving it but does anyone else feel like this??

I was similar, not sure I liked the sensation at all at about 17 weeks when mine started - like a "bubble", "pop" or "tickle." I'm now 21 weeks and the sensations freak me out much less, and they are getting stronger and more obviously kicks! So basically you may learn to enjoy it as I have, especially as you get used to it and baby grows! Smile

I was a bit creeped out by them at first as well, you're not alone.

Felt like a butterfly flapping its wings

Welcome to a whole new world of things not being quite as pleasant as you imagined Grin

I mostly didn't like feeling baby's movements all the way through my pregnancy, especially the last month or so when there was limited space and it was really uncomfortable! I have sensory processing oddities due to being autistic so imagine it had something to do with that. Don't feel bad about it, you don't need to love every aspect of pregnancy to love your baby. My baby is now one week old and when I see her wriggling about I think "thank God you're not doing that inside me anymore!!" Grin.

It's a really odd sensation. I referred to it as "the alien". 👽

I don't really like them either feels like there's a fish in there!

I didn’t like it at the start either, but the actual feeling changes as the baby grows, and I got used to it, so I like it now.
