Harder 2nd time around?

I’m 40 + 1 with DS. DD is three and a half. I’m 38.

Whilst this has been a much easier pregnancy (I’ve still had sickness but nothing like the constant vomit-a-thon that was first pregnancy), I’m finding the end much harder. With DD, I had a neat little bump and I was back into my normal clothes within 5 days. This time I have an enormous boy bump and the toll on my body feels harder. I have a huge varicose vein all the way down my leg & feel enormous (I haven’t weighed myself as that won’t help anything, but it feels more like the extra blood / water rather than extra weight but still lumbering about).

Did anyone else find it much harder second time (or third etc) around? And did it all go back?!?! Thanks!

Yes I’m only 20 weeks pregnant but I feel about the same size as I was when I was 30 weeks with the first one it’s ridiculous!

Arrrrggggh I know! At least we know the drill this time....

I'm only 10 weeks with my 2nd. I've found it much tougher. Not as much sickness but lots of tiredness and just generally feeling bleh. Other thing is I look 20 weeks and am struggling to keep it quiet like I wanted because I really do look like I've eaten my own body weight in food- all around my belly. Ha oh well.

Pregnancy was harder. I couldn't really walk by the end due to back and pelvic pain. Delivery was incomparably easier, and the actual baby bit was easier too. So much less stressful and panic-inducing than the first!

A toddler & a newborn us so much easier than a toddler & a bump! Keep going, the goal us in sight! Wink

Did it all go back... Erm. Mostly?!

I was much bigger second time around! Someone congratulated me on the pregnancy at 11 weeksConfused
But I actually found it easier to lose weight as I found it easier to manage DD than I had DS (not sure if she was easier or I was just more used to things!) even though I also had a 17 month year old. Basically the months after my second arrived were just much easier than after my first. So that made up for what was in some ways a tougher pregnancy!

Certainly finding it harder second time towards the end. So grumpy which doesn’t help

Thank you all! I am clinging to the thought that at least DH and I will know (vaguely) what we are doing this time. I remember us peering into DD’s moses basket on the night we brought her home from hospital thinking “and now what the f* do we do?!”.

Being induced with no2 tomorrow and it's definitely been harder with an 18 month old to look after. I'm only surviving because DH is doing all the mothering. I'm bigger and I'm sore. Much less worried about delivery and postpartum than last time. Can't wait to be able to take care of them both again. Good luck for when the time comes!

Good luck for today MyBaby. I hope all goes well & quickly.
