‘Early scan’ worries

First ever post, please be gentle!

From LMP I am 7wks 3 days BUT have irregular longer cycles of 32+ days not 28

I’m aware this can date you less far along than standard LMP maths

Went for a private ‘early viability’ scan this weekend only to be asked if my dates were wrong ..

Only a gestation sac was visible at around (d1 2.9mm d2 8.1mm d3 2.9mm)
so cannot tell if viable at this stage

Couldn’t find a yolk or fetal pole
They advised me to contact my GP to rule out ectopic or missed miscarriage and rebooked me in 9 days for a repeat scan

My doctor is unconcerned about seeing me as I have no pains or bleeding and didn’t seem too impressed of gone for an early scan
They advised to ‘watch & wait’ and to still see me at the ‘8 week’ mark

Worried doesn’t even cut it

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I do wish I hadn’t had the scan as I now have a tense 9 day wait before I will have any idea what’s happening

Has anyone had anything similar?
Any advice?

If you have longer than normal cycles then this will effect conception dates. I have longer cycles too.. anywhere from 29-36 days. I had an early scan due to pelvic pain thinking I was 7+6 to be told I was measuring 6+4. Was rebooked go another scan two weeks later and was measuring 9+1. So try not to worry, as hard as it is. You may have ovulated later in the cycle as I must've ovulated on CD18. All the best.

I feel your pain. Went to hospital today as was bleeding and cramping. Thought I was 5 weeks preg (having used an app to track ovulation) but using an internal scan they couldn't see anything in there at all and hcg levels are very low. Despite all that the doc said it may still be ok. I now have to wait 2 days to find out. Hang in there and keep positive. You're not alone. This being a woman thing is hard x

Hi, I’m six weeks 3 days, I had a stabbing pain last week and the following day I lost all of my pregnancy symptoms, I was convinced I had miscarried. I had my scan today, luckily we had a heartbeat and doc said I must have my dates wrong as I only measured at 5 weeks (although I’m positive my dates are right) just wanted to share a positive outcome as I too was worried sick and I know how awful it is reading so many different stories of MMC. I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel for you too! X
