Hi girls.... I've just found out we are pregnant again after having a missed miscarriage in jan.
I'm so happy but yet so scared. I feel like loosing our first has now turned a lot of our excitement into nerves/worrying 😔 trying to not panic & symptom check that my boobs still hurt ect every day but it's proving difficult!
So I've decided I'm gonna pay for an early scan... have any of you any advice on when I should book one? I'm currently around 5 weeks... should I wait until 7ish or 8ish?

Thank youuuuuuu in advance x

Congratulations, and I'm very sorry to hear about your miscarriage.
A heartbeat can usually be detected from around 6 weeks, but for me I waited until 8 weeks so that the odds of MC are greatly reduced once a heartbeat is seen at that stage. If I'd had one earlier than 8 weeks, I would have wanted another after that point also as it wouldn't have reassured me enough.

I’d wait a bit too, I saw my last pregnancies heartbeat at 7+4, but was a MMC at 12 week scan.

I’m having earlier scans this time on the NHS, but I wouldn’t pay for one tbh. I set myself up for a fall last time.

Fingers crossed for you.

Hi I'm sorry for your loss, we had a mmc a few years ago and it was so horrible but when we found out we were pregnant this time we booked an early scan at 7 weeks. We are now 40+1 and fed up but it's worth it :) hope all goes well for you 💗

This is my first pregnancy so not sure how much help I’ll be but I’ve booked one for 8 weeks.

My reasoning was that I didn’t want to weight another 8 weeks to find out the baby had died and that nothing was there. Also 8 weeks seemed like a good half way point.

I also picked 8 weeks because I head that if there’s a strong heartbeat then the statistics are good for carrying on the pregnancy but I’m aware that I’d be in no way out the danger zone

I had an early scan at what I estimated to be 7+6 but I measured 9+1.
I was absolutely sure about my dates - or so I thought!
I’d wait until at least 7 and 8 if you can bare it.
Best of luck :)
