Hi I was woken up this morning with what I'm sure were contractions but they were very close together like 2-5 mins, lasted about 20-30 secs, only for about 20/30 mins then stopped! Am I right in thinking these were contractions they came on all of a sudden we're quite painful and my belly was solid. If they were how long will it be till I'm in labour?

How far along are you? Is it possible they were just Braxton Hicks? I had them on and off for 2 weeks before I went into labour (started at 38+4)

It's pretty common to have stop start periods of contractions before things get going properly. It could mean something soon or it could be days (or weeks) away - annoyingly it is one of those things that varies by person and pregnancy. Unless it is worryingly early for you to go in labour you don't need to do anything yet.

As ric says, it could be hours or weeks before you go into labour. It's impossible to say. I had over 12 hours of contractions coming every 5 min and lasting 45 seconds
one night. In the morning they tapered off then stopped. Baby arrived 7 days later.

I'm 36 weeks today and it's definitely not BH as I've had them frequently and this was quite painful and my belly was a lot harder. Aw I see that's annoying! Thank you

How many weeks are you?
It's probably just Braxton hicks but I would ring the midwife line just to be on the safe side

They could have been contractions but unfortunately it doesn't mean that you will be in labour anytime soon; no one can no the answer to that really. Make sure you are drinking plenty in this weather as dehydration can cause an irritable uterus.

Hey I've had the same since last Friday, on and off contractions but nothing happened yet. I'm 40+1 today had a midwife appointment and my cervix hasn't even opened yet :( I hate the waiting game
