I am 24 weeks pregnant. And I am due to go on Maternity on 29th Jul, I have been suspended on full pay from work pending and investigation for something I haven't done. I haven't been accused of gross misconduct just said some tickets have gone through at separate times of day and don't match etc so looks suspicious basically although there are always issues with our till. No money has gone missing. I am worried and confused need some advice please I haven't done anything wrong. I am due to start holiday in 2 weeks following on with my maternity then to start straight from that. I have already qualified for the rate of SMP but worried what If i get dismissed what happens? Do I still get the full rate for a month, then half then statutory maternity pay? Or do I loose it and have to go through the government for allowance? Need some advice. Half debating to get signed off being un-fit for work so I get suspended on full pay until maternity! Please mums help me I am a first time Mum and worrying.

Thanks in advance x

I’d be very surprised if they fired you.... they’d be looking at a whole messy tribunal if they did.

We’ve had pregnant people at our work who have been completely shit at their job, but... darent fire them because of the shit storm it’d create, it’s a HR nightmare.

I know it sounds counter-intuitive but HR should be able to advise you about this. If they won't or you can't approach them, do you have a union rep/staff rep of some sort?

laurenluke2017 · 24/06/2018 13:01

I don't have a union rep. Just very worried!

Try the ACAS helpline 0300 123 1100
Don’t think they’re open today, but make some notes/questions to ask and call them first thing tomorrow.

Good luck
