5w+5d but measuring 4+5 and empty sac ?

Anyone else have experience of this? I'm fairly certain of my dates. LMP 14th May and regular cycle. Tested for BFP on 11th June (last Monday) which was the day my period was due - 28 day cycle - and it was a very strong positive line. Also got a 2-3 on CB digital which progressed to 3+ earlier this week.
Had a scan this morning and all we could see was an empty sac measuring around 4 1/2 weeks, so a week out of where I should be.
Can someone help me figure this out? I've had an mmc before and my CB digital tests were slow to progress and never went beyond 2-3 so I was expecting to miscarry and it was confirmed at an early scan at 7w that there was nothing there except for a shrinking sac measuring around 3.5w

Sorry you're going through this uncertainty :( I had this recently too. I went for a scan at 5+4 and just saw an empty sac. Was told to come back two weeks later for a follow up scan but unfortunately miscarried at exactly 7 weeks. I hope you have a better outcome xxx

So sorry to hear this. Unfortunately I and a friend have had similar experiences and it was a mmc both times. I hope it won’t be the case for you but it may well do. Don’t trust the CB tests- they can take a long time to register the change in the situation, especially if the empty sac continues to grow, your body confusedly thinks things are fine and progesterone levels rise.

I had this, 6 weeks based on LMP scam showed just an empty sac with some spotting. Went back a week later and there was DD and clear heart beat. Try not to worry too much.

Yes, I had this! I had a mmc at 9 weeks so was booked into an early scan for this pregnancy. It felt terrible seeing nothing on the screen at 5 weeks but we came back 10 days later and there was a little pole with a heart beat. I’m now 16 weeks. I hope everything goes well for you, try and relax as much as possible and avoid thinking ‘baby’ as much as you can.

Just thought I'd update this thread for any other women in a similar position to me frantically googling and searching all over the internet for answers/similar stories...

Had another scan 10 days later and we could see an embryo with a heartbeat! I was absolutely certain I was going to miscarry. I was pretty sure when I ovulated and when I had sex and that the numbers and dates just didn't add up! I'm now measuring only 2 days behind where I thought I should be. I'm completely shocked but it's apparently common.

Ah that's great :) I was coming on to say that to see an empty sac at 5~ weeks is totally normal, the embryo is simply too small to show up and you don't normally see a heartbeat until later on. It can be very normal to be up to a week out in those early days which is of course huge in terms of development so important to be aware.
