Hi all
My childminder has just rang me to let me know that fifths disease/slapped face syndrome is doing the rounds and 2 of the other children she looks after have come down with it.

Shes then told me shes 15 weeks pregnant and has been told there is a risk if you are under 20 weeks pregnant and shes so worried! as you can be a carrier and show no symptoms as an adult. Shes got a blood test tomorrow but has to wait 14 days for the result!!

Any experience out there?

I have also come into contact with it - 2 childrne in my class have had it. Chances are she is immune already. If she has it it can cause miscariage or birth defeats - so she will have to go for scans to check the babg is groiwng properly.

I am waiting for the results of my test, but am confident I don't have it. I think it goes with working with young children. Last pregnany I had to have a test to test immunity to chicken pox too!

Thanks I'll pass it on to her!
Makes sense really that she has a higher chance of being immune have so much contact with young children
