Scan at 5.3 weeks

Has anyone had a scan at 5.4 weeks? It's my first pregnancy but had 5 miscarriages and dont know what to expect from my first scan. Will I see a heart beat? Thanks you ladies.

Sorry I meant to say 5.5 weeks scan.

I think it's touch and go and more likely that you won't. Can you wait another week to scan? It makes such a difference at the early stage.

I had one at 6+4 to check it wasn't ectopic this time. We saw a line which flickered at one end, that was the heartbeat.

Really hope this one works out for you. I can't imagine how painful this journey has been so far. Xx

I went at 6 weeks and there was a heartbeat

I went at 5+6 with both my boys and saw a HB.
With DS2 my obgyn suspects that his heart had only just started beating a few hours previously as it was quite slow.

Don’t panic if you don’t see a HB. It will literally just be thinking about beating at the stage you’re at.

Everyone is different I had a scan at 5 and a half weeks and saw a heartbeat but I've had scans with my dd at 6 weeks and didn't see the heartbeat or really anything else it's so hard during early pregnancy but by between 8 and 12 weeks everything has caught up. I sometimes think early scans cause a lot of anxiety so maybe see about blood work as well for reassurance? I really wish you the best of luck I've had 8 miscarriages myself so i know how you are feeling but I have got 1 dd who I'm so grateful for every day

Thank you ladies for all your replies. They really help a lot. I will see if I have the patience to delay my scan till 6.5 weeks and will ask for blood tests to be done. In the meantime I will try to stay positive and pray this time my angel survives. Thanks again.

I had my first scan at 5+3 there was no heartbeat it did appear a week later in the next scan but it was a week of worry unnecessarily.

I’d definitely try and wait a bit (I know it’s hard and worrying) x

I would wait until 6-7 weeks. I know it’s impossible and you’re so worried but we had one at 6.5 weeks and seeing the heartbeat was so reassuring - and often before 6 weeks there isn’t one so you just won’t feel the level of reassurance you want! I was obsessively taking those “how many weeks pregnant” tests until then because it calmed me to see 1-2 become 2-3 and 3+.

Thank you for your advice. I need some major distraction to help me wait through to 6-7 weeks. I know waiting is the best thing but it's sooooo tough.
