Hi, I had a very obvious linea nigra when pregnant with DD, but this time there's no sign of one whatsoever! Where's it gone?

i didnt have one at all!

Linnet · 12/08/2004 23:25

I didn't have one in either of my two pregnancies.

jampot · 12/08/2004 23:29

I had one each time

Aero · 12/08/2004 23:37

Is that the line which appears in some people from the navel down in pregnancy - perhaps LLB could draw one in for you?

dejags · 13/08/2004 07:28

Had one first time round and a very faint one second time round...

Titania · 13/08/2004 07:32

i had one with all of them........i swear it is there cos that was where a zip was meant to go til (a bloke) decided it would be more fun to get the baby out another way!!!

honeybunny · 13/08/2004 08:25

Had one with both my boys, now 23/40 with dd and nothing yet.

Ghosty · 13/08/2004 08:32

Had one with DS from early on (5 months pg) and then with DD it came in the last month ... AND 6 months on it is STILL there!!!

Bibiboo · 13/08/2004 09:05

I've got a very faint one, but it's off centre

Twinkie · 13/08/2004 09:05

Didn;t have one with DD and don;t have one with DS this time YET!!!

Levanna · 13/08/2004 22:34

Hmm, another aspect of pregnancy which seems to have no rhyme or reason then! Looks like it can vary from person to person and pregnancy to pregnancy......wonder why? Any ideas?!
(lol Aero, but the day I relinquish my body to LLB will be ......lets put it this way; I wouldn't even trust him with my home .)
Titania, lol at the zip theory .

I have never had one in any of my 3 pregnancies.

Aero · 13/08/2004 22:36
Wink
Aero · 13/08/2004 22:37

btw - I've never had one either.

lou33 · 14/08/2004 02:43

I had a v obvious one for my first, but nothing for the other 3.

suzanneme · 15/08/2004 20:34

I'm the same as you - had a big old linea nigra with first pregnancy (and this is weird but after my DD arrived it washed off one day in the bath!! I swear that's true!) and absolutely nothing this time. I'm 34 weeks pregnant now so I don't think it's coming.

albert · 15/08/2004 21:03

I didn't have one at all throughout my pregnancy with DS but as soon as he was born a very obvious one appeared and lasted for ages!

Levanna · 15/08/2004 22:14

suzanneme, mine 'scrubbed off' too! Maybe not so weird, I mean, once the high pigmentation wasn't being produced, I don't suppose there were any colourful skin cells left to replace it! Is that how it works?!
albert, I have a friend who'll be happy to hear that - she didn't have one at all throughout 4 pregnancies, but developed one after giving birth to her youngest! (Found this out the other evening while on my journey to understand it all - needless to say, it's merely becoming more confusing! I'd love to know why it varies so much.)

I had one with DS and again with bump now, altho the problem was I've always had a dark line down my tum, since as far back as I can remember, it just gets darker and darker haired toooo

Aero · 27/08/2004 23:43

No word of that baby yet levanna? Thinking of you and your bump!

Levanna · 28/08/2004 00:54

Hi Aero, thanks for your thoughts :)! Been 'twinging' for a week, but thankfully nothing more definate yet - moving tomorow to new home with any luck! (Intented place of homebirth ;)) Oh, and guess what - Linea nigra is making a late appearance, strangely! Good wishes to you too :)

I didn't have one with either of my pregnancies. Read somewhere that the less weight you put on and the fairer skinned you are, the less likely you are to develop one. Is that nonsense? And what is it's purpose?

fortnight · 29/08/2004 15:43

I had one with ds and then none with dd. I read somewhere that it can indicate the baby's sex, but that's probably rubbish. I am 26 weeks now with No3,so it will be interesting to see if I get one or not this time, and what I'll have.
