I'm booked in for an early scan on Friday due to some spotting. I will be 5+6... has anybody had a scan this early before? I'm not expecting to see much but just want to know what to expect. Xx

I had one at what they put me at 5+4 and there was a tiny blob and a heartbeat.

I had a scan at 5+6, baby was tiny (3.6mm) and like a little grain of rice with a flickering heartbeat. Good luck for your scan!

I phoned my EPU because of spotting this morning, but they said they don’t do scans before 6 weeks as there’d be nothing to see ☹️

I really hope I see a heartbeat because I'm so sick of myself and how much I'm worrying it's driving me mad!! @NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking I went to my doctors and she referred me to them. I would maybe try that way as at the EPU near me I couldn't even self refer it has to be a doctor. The doctor did say she isn't concerned so hopefully the same for you!

I had scans in my last pregnancy at 5.6 and 6.2 (due to bleeding and cramping). The 5.6 one showed the sac and embryo but no heart beat. The second one there was a heart beat. Just in case you are disappointed - i wanted to let you know what a difference a couple of days can make at this stage.

In my last pregnancy I had an early scan at 5 weeks and saw empty sack went back at 7 weeks and all was present and correct with heartbeat etc. Again just to reiterate if you see nothing don't be dismayed! 5 weeks is early and many people don't see anything. It can depend on when you ovulate, when implantation took place and a whole load of things. So a few days really can make a huge difference.
