Napping everyday when pregnant

Does anyone else nap every day during pregnancy ? I have a 5 year old son so I'm up at 6:30 getting him ready then doing the school run, when I return home I take the dogs out, do some house work and food shopping etc, everyday by 12pm I'm ready for a 2 hour nap. I don't know if this is good for me because I always feel lazy afterwards, or does my body need this because I'm pregnant ?

God i’d be napping too if I was getting up at 6:30 Shock my toddler wakes me at 8:30 I thought that was bad!

Definitely rest while you can, absolutely no reason not to.

Pigeonpresent · 20/06/2018 15:10

Sleep as much as you can and be kind to yourself. That is all!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 20/06/2018 15:11

If I had a chance if napping I’d take it... unfortunately my boss would frown upon it. Once I’m done with the joys of work.. I have to come home and feed my kids.

God I’d love a daytime nap!

Bluebirdsky · 20/06/2018 15:12

I got up for work at 6.00am every day and didn't get home until 7.30pm in the evening but I definitely used to nap at the weekend if I wasn't doing anything. This is my first week of maternity leave and I am definitely making the most of some naps now! I would definitely make the most of it and nap if you have the opportunity to. Your body wouldn't sleep if it wasn't tired.

imsconequeen · 20/06/2018 15:12

Mykingdomforbrie surely you don't think 0830 is bad?!

Dobbythesockelf · 20/06/2018 15:13

I have been napping when possible as well. My 3 year old gets me up at around half 6 as well and by mid afternoon some days I'm so tired. I did have low iron though so that might be worth checking up on. How many weeks are you? I found it worse in the first trimester and now in the 3rd I'm back to been knackered. It did get better during the second.

kikibo · 20/06/2018 15:15

I sometimes wanted an afternoon nap when I got up at 10.30 together with my 9-month-old DD. She sleeps for her country that one...
Saying that , it's got better now I'm in the second trimester, but before that I slept when she had her 2-hour nap.

mumofmunchkin · 20/06/2018 15:16

I would so nap if my kids still did! They get up at ridiculous o'clock in the morning (I heard noises at 5am this morning, and found the eldest playing paw patrol on the landing), get through the day then go to bed early.

Sleep! Sleep all the sleep if you can!

littlepooch · 20/06/2018 15:17

If i didnt have my toddler and 9 month old i would nap all the time! Sometimes manage one when the toddler is at nursery but its rare.

If you can then go for it. Enjoy putting your feet up! X

StripesAndSpots1 · 20/06/2018 15:18

I'm 9 weeks and feel like I need a nap every afternoon. I have 30/40 mins kip during my lunch break and I'm still ready for bed by 8!

idratherbe30than20 · 20/06/2018 15:24

Yes, I do this! I consider it one of the perks of being a SAHM. I'm up with my 2 year old at 6:30 every day. I've never had sickness with either pregnancy but I do get bone crushingly tired especially the first 12 weeks and about the last 8. We don't stop most days when she's up, if we're not out at some sort of playgroup or seeing friends I'm shopping or doing housework. It's tiring in a different way to working in an office which is what I used to do.

Luckily DD reliably still naps for 2 hours at lunchtime. I'm 28 weeks at the moment so I haven't been napping so much but for the first few months when I put her down I'd grab some lunch and then sleep until she woke up too.

Do it!

Stephisaur · 20/06/2018 15:29

I'm up at 7.30am, in work for around 8am until 5pm. This is my fist pregnancy.

I'm lucky if I make it past 7.30pm without falling asleep on the sofa. Embrace it I say!

SaigonSaigon · 20/06/2018 15:33

Do it while you can and enjoy it!

Might be worth getting the old iron levels tested though as well.

Wellthisunexpected · 20/06/2018 18:42

Definitely not lazy. I could nap every day but unfortunately don't have that luxury. Wish I did though, I'd definitely be taking the opportunity.

owl89 · 21/06/2018 07:32

Unfortunately I can't nap due to work and toddler but I would if I could! However, I've been in bed by 8pm every night.

SoyDora · 21/06/2018 07:34

I would if I could but I have 2 non napping pre schoolers at home too. They got me up at 6 this morning and I have insomnia so would kill for a nap!

allthatmalarkey · 21/06/2018 07:36

Normal. During second pregnancy I had to put something on the TV and let my toddler fend for himself for an hour because I actually couldn't stop myself falling asleep mid afternoon. And normal to feel tired still afterwards. First trimester with second DC I was so tired I couldn't bring myself to pick something up if so dropped it. I did the bare minimum all day for months. It was awful. Sorry OP and good luck.

DrWhy · 21/06/2018 07:40

God, I’d love to nap if I could, go for it. I’m woken a couple of times overnight by the the toddler every other night (alternate on duty nights with DH), up at 7am to get toddler ready for nursery and go to work, home about 5.45, deal with dinner, bayhtime, bedtime, remaining household chore and collapse into bed sometime between 10 and 11 - I feel like the living dead.

SoyDora · 21/06/2018 07:44

allthatmalarkey mine would just ask me questions the whole time! My 4 year old would leave me in peace for an hour but there’s no way my 2 year old would. She’d just talk at me while I was trying to sleep.

susej · 21/06/2018 07:45

I’d get up at 7 and need a nap by 9... Grin

abitoflight · 21/06/2018 08:11

Of course nap if you can! And when they are small. Pregnancy and looking after small ones exhausting imo
I used to whizz round like a mad thing in the morning (or between activities with the older one) to get on top of the house stuff then nap for couple of hours in the afternoon

SamanthaH92 · 21/06/2018 08:14

Enjoy it while you can. I have always napped during the day, even when i wasn't pregnant or had a baby too look after. I am now 35+ weeks with DD2 and i wake up tired, manage to get through the day go to bed and i am just so restless i cannot sleep. Another joy of pregnancy x

River93 · 21/06/2018 08:18

I feel like I need a 2 hour nap but I can’t as I work 8-6 every day Shock I’m beginning to struggle now but wish I had the luxury of being able to nap in the day!

Amy1996 · 21/06/2018 08:50

Thanks guys, I feel a lot better about it now. I do actually work evenings 3-9pm 2-3 nights a week as well so I'm glad i get the time through the day to sleep.

I definitely make the most of napping on my days off work. I get up at 8am most days but get broken sleep due to peeing every hour and in bed most nights by 10. Someone at work suggested I use one of the first aid rooms to nap in if I get too tired but haven't tried that yet
