Hi all,
I'm 5wks+1 and tonight feel like I'm coming down with a cold Confused any tips on best thing to do? I'm sure it's not helped that I'm not sleeping well at ALL so my already supposed slightly weaker immune system is out of whack! In a tiny bit of a panic, Dr Google is a bad idea sometimes!

Try not to panic. You can get a flu jab from your doctor when you're pregnant. If it's just a cold then try to get some rest (if not actual sleep) and drink plenty of fluids. Your chemist can advise you on anything that's safe to take - I find Jakeman's lozenges quite good.

Do you have a temperature?

fizzledays · 19/06/2018 08:21

Thanks @TinyTerror1 I'm drinking tonnes and trying to relax - I'm on holiday at the mo so no easy access to anyone medical to speak to (although I did find closest place yesterday!
@LorelaiVictoriaGilmore no temperature no...I read if I get one I need to go see someone so keeping an eye on myself, as is DH!

You will get colds and minor viruses. It just happens when you're immunosuppressed.. They won't do you any harm. Drink water, rest and take paracetamol if you have headache or fever. It's not flu season but your midwife will talk to you about the flu jab, so hopefully you won't get full-blown flu later.

Speak to your midwife about flu jab, you don't want the flu if you can help it! You'd know if it was flu, I had it twice during my first trimester and ended up being off work for 3 weeks not able to do anything so you probably (hopefully) just have a cold.
Drink plenty and take paracetamol if needed

Thanks so much everyone, have my first midwife appointment on Monday so will definitely ask!
