I have been on the pill (microgynon) for over 2 years and have always been good at taking it, which is why I'm so surprised at what I have just done! In short - I finished my period Wednesday 13th and had unprotected sex with my partner on thursday 14th and sunday morning 17th. On 17th I found myself bleeding in the afternoon and it was only then that I realised that I had completely forgotten to take my pill for 3 days (the last one having been taken on the 14th and only 3 days into my new pack which was started on the 11th after my break).

  1. is the bleeding breakthrough bleeding?
  2. what are are the odds of pregnancy arising from this? Did any of you concieve in similar circumstances? It really wouldn't be the end of the world if I did fall pregnant, but I just want to know whether it is something I should be overly concerned about. Thanks all.

I would say it is unlikely, but not impossible.

What you will need to do is take a pregnancy test 2 weeks (14 days) after the most recent unprotected sex. A First Response Early Response test would be my recommendation, you can get these from boots or on amazon :)

Hope this helps Flowers

After not taking the pill it can make you bleed, i bled after about 5 days after my last pill was taken which is normal apparently

You took your last pill on the 14th and had sex that day, then had sex on the 17th, is that right? So you were covered for the 14 but not 17th if I'm reading right, so one pill is usually OK but any more there is a risk more so if it was the first pills in the pack that were missed. So you could could get emergency contraception or emergency coil (or both) if you weren't covered for the 14th you could still get ulipristal which is emergency contraception up to 5 days after sex if that helps
