SPD pain with second pregnancy - HELP!

Hello ladies,

Can anyone recommend a good pelvic support belt for SPD in later pregnancy? I'm 31 weeks and the pain is getting worse as time goes on. Do the belts help? I was referred for physio - who basically said - it is what it is, deal with it and gave me a leaflet!
TIA. x

Start doing Pilates. Do it everyday.

Look at the pelvic partnership website.

Get a cerola belt.

Keep moving. Swimming is good. Hydrotherapy is even better.

Best of luck, op. I've been there three times and have ended up on crutches and then a wheelchair. It's awful. Pilates is the bomb though.

Your physio is not good enough!! You need to see a Well Woman physio. The guidelines for PGP are manual therapy and exercises - a leaflet and a support belt is not enough.

Pelvic Partnership have a great website and helpline. They also have a list of practitioners who have been helpful to other members and they tell you exactly what to expect of your physio/osteopath. You do need to sort this out because it may be very fixable and there's the possibility that it could get worse if you don't.

Mine is a chaneco support belt, I can't tell you how it ranks compared to others really but it is comfortable to wear for several hours. I tried a JoJo maman belt first but it was irritating to wear. Didn't need to wear a belt in my first pregnancy, but this time the pain has hit much earlier and is sharp enough to take my breath away with months still to go.
