Pregnant with DC2 and forgotten how draining the first trimester can be!

I was sick once a morning religiously with DC1 then fine throughout the day. This time around, vomiting at least 2 times a day and constant nausea. There is no food this baby likes AngrySad

Anyone else suffering and would like to vent?! Why do we do this to ourselves?

So thankfully I'm not actually being sick but very nauseous. Like you, this is very different to my first pregnancy with DS. I've had a cold this weekend and it's just totally wiped me out, the not sleeping has made my nausea 10 times worse! I've actually taken the day off work today because I just feel crap (first day in years!).

No matter how rubbish I feel I find it really reassuring (crazy I know) and looking on my app this morning (7 weeks today) and seeing my 'raspberry' cheered me up a bit xx

I had severe morning sickness in my first trimester....to the point I collapsed at work because not even water was staying down (mortified!). This is my first baby so I just presumed it was normal to feel this way. Now at 16weeks I am still sick religiously every morning and still avoiding certain foods and smells that will set me off. It's a minefield & thought this feeling would have subsided by now!

@FarMack - that must be so tough! I friend had really terrible sickness and thought it would never end but it did around 20 weeks. Hopefully yours will soon too x

FarMack · 18/06/2018 10:41

Thank you @KimRobs87 having the scans to look forward to is what makes it bearable! I also use a pregnancy app and love seeing what size fruit the baby is each week!

Glad to hear I’m not alone. I’m 10 weeks with DC2. I started with vomiting 3-4 times a day at 4 weeks to about twice a day now 😩. I hate most food , can’t stand my favourites which is agonising. I wish this to end so I can have my life back again!

beccii161016 · 18/06/2018 11:38

@FarMack oh my gosh that's awful! Baby will all be worth it but it's sometimes hard to think like that when you feel so ill!

A friend of mine who is a little further along than me has currently had a symptomless pregnancy which I am very jealous of right now haha!

Does anyone else ever had a massive craving for a certain food but then as soon as it touches your mouth... no. It's driving me mad!!

I often feel really hungry and once food is in front of me I cant even imagine eating it because it makes me feel so ill.

Sitting at work the last week or so has been so difficult. Feel like I could fall asleep just so exhausted all the time. Cant wait for this part to end (if it is going to end).

Hope you ladies feel better soon too.

This thread has my name all over it. 9 weeks today, my morning routine is to be sick as soon as I get up then once more before I head off to work. Then I’ll be sick again when I get in from work and spend the evening miserable.

Had to come home from work yesterday, white as a sheet my friend was really worried for me. She knows about the baby and has told me to tell them I have a sickness bug and relax for a couple of days. I hate lying, though. Also due a pay rise next month that I’m terrified this will affect.

There’s not one point of the day where I don’t feel like I’m going to throw up. So much of my house I associate with being sick. The smell, the colour, the dog. I can’t stomach water, only really tea and orange juice. I’m eating what I can and I don’t seem to be throwing it up, bar a projectile vom following a Chinese on Saturday evening, but it tends to just be phlegm and bile so I guess it’s a positive that baby will be getting some nutrients.

It’s just killing me. I’m at the point where I cry because I’ve had enough of it all. I’m so excited about the baby but at this point where you have to be mindful it’s early days and you’re this ill, it just feels so isolating and depressing. Everyone who knows is super excited but I can’t even bear to speak about it. My mum sends me links to prams and it makes me angry but at the same time, we’re the last in both families to have a baby so I wasn’t expecting to have this much excitement and positivity so I don’t want to be rude about it.

I’ve got my booking appointment tomorrow so will mention it to the midwife but I’m guessing it’s one of those things we have to ride out? 😩

Oh my God, I'm 8 weeks and already considering never getting pregnant again!! I feel ill every second of the day and now I've got vertigo...I'm off work this week but praying it will have gone by Monday since I have an hour drive to work each way 😭

Hotdamn This board has saved me from feeling like the only one who is currently really miserable about being pregnant!

FarMack · 20/06/2018 14:12

Sorry to hear you both are going through this too ladies! I actually gave up work in the end (I had a physically demanding job that would have had to end eventually, just didn't think it would be so soon!) this was a massive loss of my independence and as you said it can be so lisolating and depressing. I must admit at week 16 now I'm not as sick, but still certain smells and scenarios cause violent sickness. Praying by 20 it completely eases!

beccii161016 · 20/06/2018 17:55

Oh gosh I know we're all in solidarity but it's awful to hear how badly some of you are suffering!

I've had a couple of good days thank god but just of late the list of things I can stomach is up to around 4

@Hotdamndiggitydam I actually mentioned my sickness to my midwife and she said if it's really impacting you to the point you're struggling to eat and drink, make an appointment with your GP. There is a drug that they can give you that is totally safe during pregnancy. Because if you get dehydrated the only treatment is to be put on a drip Sad if you can't eat much just try and drink as much as you can!

I managed to stomach brownies yesterday which I was elated about haha!
