Hello
Am 31+3 weeks and just wondered how organised others were with the things they needed to get. I think I'm pretty much done. Got cot ordered, got buggy and car seat. Got basic clothes, got nappies (reuseable ones). Just really need to get bedding etc.
Also- when did you/ are you going to pack your hospital bags?
Just being nosey!

I was parnoid I was going to give birth early (was actually 10days late!) and had everything ready by about 7.5months...inc hospital bag...

Weird really as I'm not usually that organised!!!

With DS I started shopping after the 5 month scan and had all the big stuff by 6 months . Bag was packed at 30 weeks, we figured from family esperience anything could happen from then on. Actually it was packed with the basics and I added the odd nice thing and stuff I'd forgotten right up til I went in. There's a couple of threads about with suggestions of what to pack.

Good luck

I packed my hospital bags when I was on maternity leave, so about 36 weeks. A lot of people keep their maternity notes with them at all times towards the end but I only took mine if I was going a long way aaway - went to a wedding at 38 weeks so thought I'd better haven them with me just in case I had to go to the nearest hospital. Luckily I didn't! Good luck xxx

I didn't pack my bag until I was 36+4 weeks - ds came the following day!

As long as you've got all big things, clothes, nappies and bedding, then you'll be fine
I didn't.. and had parents rushing round on the day ds was born buying the things I hadn't got round to getting...

MrsBadger · 23/05/2007 08:47

28ish - haven't bought anything except a sling for DH but have hand-me-down cot, clothes, bedding, muslins etc.
Expedition @ 29wks for pram, cot mattress, carseat etc, awaiting nappy demo at 30wk antenatal class before buying.

Haven't even thought about packing for hospital, mostly because I'm going on holiday twice between now and edd and will need the bag...

hi pps - we're due more or less at the same time - i'm 31+3 today

it's easier for me as it's my second, so already have moses basket, pram, bedding, infant carrier, oodles of nappies from last time

have already bought new nursery furniture

so - just need to organise hospital bag and decide whether i need a double buggy

with ds1 i bought things really ealry - as soon as the 20 week scan was over with i got the credit card out

I packed my bags around 34 weeks last time and the same this time. It's nice to have it all done so you can relax, otherwise you will be flapping at every twinge!

I've got everything else organised - washed all the bedding and pram / car seat covers etc (second baby so nice to have it all fresh and clean after being in the loft for a year)

I think with first baby I had the nursery set up from about 36 weeks (ish) and pretty much had all the essentials (nappies, cot, pram etc)

lispy · 23/05/2007 11:03

I packed my bags early which was lucky because i had to be admitted for observation a couple of weeks early. The problem was the stuff that i packed obviously couldn't be worn in the meanwhile...

PregnantGrrrl · 23/05/2007 11:09

i planned a home birth with DS, which was scuppered when a horrid midwife came out to us, so we went to the birthing unit instead. i'd packed an emergency bag when i was about 36wks i think.

planning a home birth this time too, but i'll prob do the same and have an emergency bag about 4wks ahead.

beckmo · 23/05/2007 11:12

38 weeks and all is ready and packed. Now just have to keep going and repacking it, looking at it, picking it up, folding it....and repeat!

lizziemun · 23/05/2007 13:02

Last time i think i packed at about 38 weeks, dd was born at 39 weeks.

Am 26 weeks haven't evan thought about hospital bag, might have to start thinking about the bag and nursery/clothes soon as it all up in the loft and will need washing/cleaning as it been up there for 2 years.

I would say from last time i will not be taking half the stuff they say take as it just to much as most people only stay 1 night. Am hoping as this is my second i will be home in 6 hours.

fannyannie · 23/05/2007 13:04

how organised am I??? ermm not very.

Still sorting out my last minute bits and bobs (bath seat/support for starters).

And I'm 38+1 (with no.3) and just had a show............and I haven't even decided which bag I'm going to use for my hospital bag yet

PPS- i am 32+3 I will be getting my hospital bag ready end of next week, when my pil come to visit as they are bringing some of the bits and bobs needed. need to go shopping for some other little bits.
Will be getting the moses basket, and pram, car seat, and carrycot from the loft in the next week or two to get it all washed and ready. Also we need to buy ds a bed so that the lo can have the cot, even though he wont need it to start with, want ds in his new bed before the babs arrives so that he doesnt feel like he is being turfed out of it.
ordered the new bedding for the
baby last week so hopefully that will be here soon.. Need to buy another set of drawers so that i can get baby clothes washed and put away.

So still have quite a bit to do really. It has only just started to sink in that I am having another baby. (this is number 3)
