What's your pregnancy weight gain so far?

Hi ladies. Wondering what your pregnancy weight gain is so far? This is my 2nd baby but my first was 11 years ago when I was much younger, barely put any weight on and it was all baby (I also don't think I was as concerned back then being young etc and just went with it)... this time round I'm more conscious as I am older and worry it will be harder to loose after the baby is here.

I am not over weight by any means but being small makes me feel bigger and I have that kind of skin which easily marks (stretch marks etc). I am 5ft 2" and at 6 weeks pregnant weighed 8st 9lb (I was already carrying more weight than usual as I'm usually comfortable at 8st 4) ... anyway I am now 14 weeks and I weigh 9st 2lb so in 8 weeks I have gained half a stone (7lbs). I'm fine with putting weight on in pregnancy but I don't want to gain it all too quick and become unhealthy. I ate badly in first tri... lots of bread and crisps and mash potatoes.... anything that didn't make me feel sick. 😷

What is everyone else's gains and experience?

I haven't weighed myself lately but at 16 weeks I'd gained 1.8kg since my first weigh-in at 8 weeks.

Tilliebean · 16/06/2018 09:24

I’m 24 weeks and gained 4-5kg since my 8 week weigh in... not best pleased. Unfortunately I am one of those people whose morning sickness/nausea is only improved by an almost constant intake of carbs. I have felt better since 14 weeks or so but I know some weight was gained that I’m just stuck with. I’m also pretty sure a kilo or two of that weight is in my boobs! They are enormous! Sadly looks like I will gain more than I want to again this time, despite best efforts to eat healthy!

Grandmaswagsbag · 16/06/2018 09:28

26 weeks and I’ve gained 1.5 stone. With my 1st it was around 3 stone by the end of the pregnancy. I can’t seem to control my hunger at all in pregnancy and with horrendous morning sickness I just wanted to eat junk. It all came off the 1st time within a few months of portion control and breastfeeding so I’m not stressing over it.

Flatwhite32 · 16/06/2018 09:35

35 weeks on Monday, and last time I weighed myself I had gained around 1st 10/11. I reckon I'm probably close to 2 stone now.

Notlostjustexploring · 16/06/2018 09:40

I had put on about 16 pounds by my first scan. Like Tilliebean I was eating constantly to keep both nausea and puking at bay. By the same stage in my last pregnancy I'd actually lost weight as I'd been vomiting up every meal. (I have a spreadsheet that I've been updating out of curiosity.)

My nausea has now abated (15weeks) and I'm eating normally again and my weight has remained the same for a couple of weeks. I'm hopeful that that continues for a while as I'm already heavier than I was at 42 weeks pregnant last time...

Smellyjo · 16/06/2018 09:44

2 stone at 28 wks. First preg I was nearly 4 stone over but lost it all. If you plan to breastfeed it massively helps the weight loss - I was eating cake the whole time and still lost it all! And I was 35 for that preg and 37 now. So while it's a thought putting that all on, it's definitely not hard to lose.

GrumpySausage · 16/06/2018 09:49

I'm 39+1 and have gained 2 stone. I gained 3 stone with my first pregnancy, lost two stone of it and then got pregnant again. I have done slimming world both times whilst pregnant and I weight exactly the same at 39 weeks both times.

However this time everyone has commented on how slim I look. With my first the weight went on my face, hips and bum. This time it's all bump. I actually look slimmer in the face now than before I fell pregnant! I haven't worried about my weight gain this time though as I know it's all for a good cause.

24 weeks and about 16 pounds so far, although most of that in the second trimester 😏

Scout1774 · 16/06/2018 14:18

17 weeks and have gained 10 pounds. Most of that was around weeks 10-14, when I felt sick and/or faint unless I followed a diet of toast, custard creams, toast, pasta and then maybe some more toast. Feeling normal now so haven't gained much weight in the last few weeks but I'm sure it will come piling on soon.

Magpie24 · 16/06/2018 14:22

20 weeks and about a stone

Butterflyrosebud · 16/06/2018 15:17

I’m 38 weeks and have gained 2 and a half stone. Unlikely (I hope) that I will gain more now. I’m okay with it, I worried at first because I was starving in my second trimester and piled it on. Quite confident I can lose it again afterwards though and midwife hasn’t said anything negative :)

Charlottejade89 · 16/06/2018 18:02

33 weeks and I have gained 2 stone roughly. my first pregnancy and it's all bump, no extra weight round the sides at all and (touch wood) no stretch marks either yet. so I'm not stressing about it too much. I was about 8 stone 9 pre-pregnancy

MeadowHay · 16/06/2018 18:36

I'm 39 weeks with my first and have put on roughly 10 kg. I lost some weight initially due to HG and wasn't back to my pre-pregnancy weight until I was about 16 or 18 weeks and then started putting it on from there. I read that 10-15kg is a healthy range for weight gain during pregnancy. I think if you put on too much weight you're more likely to have more stretch marks too as your skin will struggle to cope with the quick increase in weight. I don't have any stretch marks other than on my boobs, I think that's partly due to not putting on lots of weight but no doubt partly due to genetics as well.

Aw12345 · 16/06/2018 18:58

33 weeks.... Have gained 13kg Shock Blush

Gemsie1984 · 16/06/2018 19:46

I'm 15 weeks and so far lost weight (23lbs). I'm bigger anyway though so I am not concerned about it at this point. The weight loss has been static for the last week so expect to start putting it on slowly from now.

Aw12345 · 16/06/2018 20:17

I lost for the first 20 weeks, have just piled on the pounds for the last 13 weeks Blush!!

Havetothink · 16/06/2018 20:18

24 weeks, 1 stone heavier mostly from second trimester, hardly gained anything in first 12 weeks.

BumbleNova · 16/06/2018 20:27

Argh this is stressing me out so much. I'm 21 weeks and I've only gained three pounds Sad. I've added three snacks to my usual diet since 12 weeks because I'd gained nothing. I'm so worried about having a small baby. Do I just need to eat more? More calorific snacks? I'm trying to be healthy too.

Havetothink · 16/06/2018 21:16

This thread made me paranoid so I found this link:

polkadotpixie · 16/06/2018 21:27

26+4 and I've put on 1st 4lbs. I'm not happy about it tbh but I had such bad nausea and eating was the only thing that helped

I'm trying really hard not to put more than 2 stone-ish on in total but I think it might end up slightly over that

NotTakenUsername · 16/06/2018 21:29

I haven’t even checked! Blush literally never even considered it.

Stringervest · 16/06/2018 21:33

I put on 20kg in my (first) pregnancy and I gave not one fuck. Food was the only thing that helped my nausea and I wasn’t going to deny my body what it clearly wanted. Don’t worry about it! Try to eat as healthily as you can and believe that your body will gain what it needs to gain, be it a little or a lot. Everyone is different. And congratulations!

DwangelaForever · 16/06/2018 21:39

23 weeks and 4lbs I was overweight to begin with.

user1483473283 · 16/06/2018 21:55

34 weeks and 9lb so far. I was probably 20lb overweight to start with though still from DC1. Did manage to lose almost 3 stone in the 18 months between DC1 being born and falling pregnant this time.

isthismummy · 16/06/2018 23:21

25+3 with twins and I’ve gained 12lbs so far.
