I've had a cervical sweep today, but I was just wondering if anybody could decipher what this last word is in the notes?! I know it's probably entirely inconsequential but you know how you pick over every last detail Blush

Thanks!

Well it says cephalic - which means head down - then it looks like -2 level but not sure what that would mean.

Marmite27 · 12/06/2018 17:28

Agree with the poster above. Cephalic - head down. It’s a good thing Smile

Second bit could be

  • 2 centre

Not necessarily a minus, could just be a dash.

Marmite27 · 12/06/2018 17:32

From some googling, it’s a measurement of how engaged baby is.

TinyTerror1 · 12/06/2018 17:36

I wondered about that but I've only heard of it in fifths before i.e. 1/5, 2/5 etc.

MooChops89 · 12/06/2018 17:39

Looks like -2 level which I assume means baby's head is 2cm above the ischial spines in your pelvis - its how we measure how low the head is when you have a vaginal examination. -2 is high (ish) but not the highest it can be

Isittimeforbed · 12/06/2018 17:40

It says -2 which means 2 cms above the ischial spines. (Looks like it's written as -2 level) Which is a good place to be for the start of labour.

MooChops89 · 12/06/2018 17:41

The fifths is how we measure engagement from an abdominal examination, whereas the -2, 0, +1 etc is how we measure from a vaginal examination, if that makes sense

TinyTerror1 · 12/06/2018 18:56

@Moochops thanks for the explanation :) it's good to learn something new! Now I can look for it in my notes when the time comes :)

That's fantastic, thanks everyone, especially @MooChops89. I thought it said 'level' but couldn't work out what that would mean at all and google wasn't helping! I'll continue bouncing on the ball then to try and shake him down Wink
