Changing name at hospital

Hello

I’m not sure if anybody will be able to advise or not but I thought I’d give it a shot anyway. Getting married in just under a month and I have been told how to change my name at my GPs (so will change with the community midwife too) but haven’t the foggiest in how to go about changing it with the hospital. I’ve got a consultant appointment in August following a growth scan but would you think the records would automatically change over from the GP, especially in this age of GDPR?

(I’m going to ring the hospital after I get married to double check but was curious if anybody could shed some light in the meantime)

Thank you Smile

They won't automatically change. Ring PALS, there is probably a form to fill in.

The receptionist should just be able to change it on the system when you go for your consultant appointment. Then just double check when you go into hospital that they have it on all the systems, it will be important that they sort it on all the systems so that your blood results get transferred under new name

The hospital won’t change it automatically but you can tell them when you go for your next appointment and the receptionist will update your record. As long as your address hasn’t changed you won’t miss any letters/appointments so nothing to worry about!

You see, I just wouldn’t bother. You’re already pregnant, you’re not getting married for a month. This is going to be an issue for 7 months, max. Just leave it.

(I might be a bit lax as I got married 10 years ago and a letter arrived last week in my maiden name and I realised I’d still not told 02 I’d got married Blush)

Or just keep your own name. I did.
