So I'm nearly 33 weeks pregnant. I wouldn't say I've had an easy pregnancy but most symptoms in each trimester have been to the norm.

However the past 2 days I feel like I've been hit by a truck. I did a dipstick of my urine last night and I have a high trace of protein, leukocytes, ketones and blood. I called the midwife triage line and they suggested I see the GP as it could be a UTI.

Now I've seen the GP this morning and she looked at my urine sample and the same results came back again but worse. She wasn't convinced it was a UTI as I don't have any other symptoms. She did my BP which was slightly higher than usual but still very much in the normal range.

She said she's sending off a urine sample and I should hear back in the next few days, however I am to be on bed rest for the rest of the day as it could the start of preeclampsia which I wasn't expecting to hear.

Luckily my boss has let me go home, but can you have preeclampsia without high blood pressure? Other than the urine test, I do have swollen feet and hands which I thought was quite common. I am feeling rather dizzy and have this horrible tender like pain at the top of my bump. I'm drinking lots and eating healthy and other than feeling tired and lathargic I don't have the other preeclampsia signs like headaches or seeing spots.

Any help with your experience or knowledge would really help! Many thanks in advance.

It's not high BP as such, but a raise from your normal baseline that they're looking out for.

It sounds as if you're in good hands. Keep your feet up, stay hydrated and call triage if your symptoms worsen or new ones develop, but try not to worry (easier said than done, I know!)
