Nappies, what size to buy/ wipes recomendations?

hey so estimated weight is about 9lbs, I have one jumbo pack of size 1 nappies, should I buy in some size 2? or another packet or 2 of size1? .Going with pampers any other brand recommendations? I've bought water wipes then plan on using Huggies sensitive wipes, again any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks in advance ladies.

I use asda little angels and aldi mamia for nappies and wipes. They are so much cheaper and just as good IMO ( I tried lots of different brands when DS was first born). As for amount of nappies, my baby was 8lb when born and only in size 1 for a couple of weeks. We went through 8/10 nappies a day in the early days so depending on how big your jumbo pack is I wouldn't get too many more of the size 1. Bit weight estimates aren't always correct so you may have a smaller/bigger baby and have to adjust accordingly.

Size 1 nappies should be fine initially.
We've used all manner of brands and most supermarket ones are as good as pampers but much cheaper. Tesco ones have been particularly good for us. Wipes again try supermarket ones, so much cheaper. In the early days I used Morrison's ones as they claim to be as mild as water (could well just be a marketing gimmick though!) and they are £3.50 for 5 packs

Lidl nappies are fantastic and much cheaper than other brands, Aldi nappies are good too.

My baby is 9.5 lb, we use aldi size 1 and they still fit him well they're sometimes smaller than you think they'll be! I can highly recommend them, I've tried a few others but stuck to these he's a boy and pees for England and have had no wee leaks and generally no poo leaks unless it's a mega explosion! I also use johnsons extra sentive or aldi extra sensitive wipes, both are great. My cousin swears by Tesco nappies but I haven't tried them yet

I had a 9 pounder and a 9 and a half pounder. I think I used size 2 from very early on. I think size 1 will fit, so those nappies will not go to waste.

When my two were born I was not allowed to use wipes while still in hospital with the baby. It might be worth buying a roll of cotton wool just to put in your hospital bag.

Of course once you are home you can use whatever you like with your baby. I found cotton wool and baby lotion the best for nappy changes.

Pampers for us. Newborn sensitive protection wipes at first. And sensitive protect nappies. We took newborn size to the hospital.

Ive stocked up on pampers size 1 and 2 and I prefer not to use wipes for a while, at least the first few weeks. I use cotton wool and warm water from the kettle/tap for nappy changes. If we go out we generally don't go far and only to see family or whatever in the first weeks so it isn't a problem. I don't trust wipes until babies skin isn't so sensitive.

If you have Amazon Prime nappies are 20% off so it brings the price of Pampers down! I always buy wipes on there as well as they are often work out cheaper if you do subscribe and save. I personally didn’t like the Aldi nappies as i thought they felt quite rough and papery but other people I know swear buy them. I wouldn’t go mad buying nappy cream either as my daughter blistered when using almost everything other than Bepanthen - especially Sudocream (which i’d been given loads of!) That was the worst offender.

I think to start I bought one jumbo size one and one size two box. You might not get it right to begin with but as time goes on you’ll become an expert on how much to buy. Anything you have over you can keep or pass on. Our NCT group used to sell each other nappies we didn’t need anymore to help each other out.

Always used Pampers for both mine so far and plan to again.

We buy through amazon / when on offer and I never pay full price - I never found price to be a reason to change brands if your prepared to stock up when on offer etc

Water Wipes are nice for newborns - I used them from day 1 and will do again or convenience. Never had any pressure in hospital not to.

From around 6 months I did change to Huggies sensitive wipes though (£9 for box of 12 on Amazon) as I really like how soft they are even if they fall apart sometimes when you remove them from the pack.

It's all about person preference and convenience to be honest plus youl find what nappies work well for your baby.

Water Wipes, no nasty chemicals on your little one.

I would vote to have some size 2's in too-they'll not go to waste! I mainly had Aldi nappies, but liked most brands. I used cotton wool and water for the first few weeks with both of mine, and then moved into waterwipes-still using them on my 2 year old! I also buy these from Amazon.

Thank you very much, I thought water wipes were the new replacement for cotton wool and water?, il buy some more size 1 and 2s, I do have amazon prime thanks for the tip, I thought Asda or Tesco offers would have been cheaper. Aldi nappies seem to be very popular must be good. wonder what the Lidl ones are like as Aldi and Lidl are really similar?

I can't really advise but just wanted to say regarding wipes, I use Johnston's wipes while I'm on my period, it just feels a bit cleaner to use a wipe if you're wearing a pad imo. But if I use them a couple of times a day I feel it can be a little bit stingy/raw feeling so personally I would be going with water wipes or just water and cotton wool

Lidl lupilu nappies are brilliant. I found little angels from Asda leaked. Mamia at Aldi also impressed with. With my first, it was allcirron wool and water. 2nd time round whatever wipes are on offer! No problems so far. I do go for unfragranced though. We were in size 2s far quicker than I anticipated. Definitely worth having a packet ready.

All cotton even!
