I''ve been given antenatal classes but really don't suit my work and my OH will lose contract if he has to take so much time off. Should we both do NCT and I try and attend some NHS? in edinburgh west if anyone has any local knowledge

There's no need to do both. If you can afford NCT and want to do it and the timings suit you better, you may as well let someone else have your free NHS place.

I started doing both nct and Nhs and didn't bother going back to the rest of Nhs ones as I found nct much more in depth and also in line with my views and wishes about childbirth/ raising baby. I also like the nct setup really helping you make pals, didn't seem that was as supported by Nhs.
