"Gush of fluid?"

Hi All - 16 weeks pregnant and I went to A&E yesterday off the advice of the midwife dept. Had my cervix checked and it was closed, waiting for them today to call and arrange a scan for something, I assume to check the baby.

Has anyone else had this? They said it may have just been an excessive amount of watery discharge, but I seem to have watery discharge every day.

Hi ellsbells90, I just logged in to reply to your thread because the same thing happened to me last week (at 17 weeks).

I had a week of increasing amounts of watery discharge then a sudden gush of clear fluid last week and the midwife sent me off for an emergency scan.

Everything was intact - no signs of rupture and baby had plenty of fluid. I questioned why I had a sudden gush of fluid and the midwife said it's perfectly normal to see an increase in discharge at around 17 weeks and especially more so in the hot weather we've been having lately (as it thins discharge).

I hope your scan gives you the reassurance you're looking for too! x

I had a similar experience yesterday, at 17+6. I went to the loo and there was a damp patch in my knickers (TMI sorry!). I do get quite a lot of discharge at the moment anyway but this was more watery than normal. I put on fresh knickers and monitored it but didn't have any more so I haven't spoken to anyone as I assumed it must have been discharge. obviously common at this point!

@november2018 thank you! Yes I had increasing amounts in the last few weeks then Sunday morning it was up my back/soaked my knickers when I woke up. I have a scan in the morning to check the fluid.

I fear because I had cells removed a year ago from my cervix! Although, she said it was firmly shut so I'm sure its the same situation as yours.

Thank you xx

I've got four children and had this with every pregnancy. You can get increased discharge in pregnancy that is watery and also leak urine without noticing.
I had thrush in my last two pregnancies that presented itself as watery discharge.

Sounds like thrush.

ellsbells90 · 11/06/2018 16:49

strange, because I get thrush whenever I use a different soap, so quite used to what that is. I never get a discharge with it, only itchy. They took a swab "whilst they were down there" so will wait and see.
