Lost weight in last week's of second Tri?

First off. No concern from OB or midwife. Baby is measuring exactly on the 50th percentile and is growing as expected.

But, I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

I was/am overweight. Partially due to Christmas excess and first trimester sickness and exhaustion I weighed 84kilos at my 12 week scan (no weight taken at 8 week appt).

This put me down as obese however pre-pregnancy I did a lot of powerlifting and had a high muscle mass. According to various measurements I'm on the middle/lower end of overweight rather than obese. so no weight referrals for me.

No sickness in second Tri. (I'm 27.5 weeks now). Though I did crack a rib about 5 weeks ago.

At 22 weeks I weighed 89kilos.

At 24 weeks I weighed 86kilos.

At 27 weeks I weighed 84 kilos. That's the same as my 12 week weigh-in.

I have not changed diet (I tend to eat relatively healthily, I am eating slightly smaller meals with small healthy snacks - usually I don't snack - as my stomach is being squished by baby).

I've been very tired and less active since rib crack nuisance. I've had checks ups on me and baby. We're both fine.

So... Any idea why I'm losing weight?

I cut back on gym stuff around 16 weeks. So I'd assume any muscle mass loss would be accounted for. Also there's been very little as my leg measurements have only decreased by less than an inch.

I haven't had morning sickness since 12 weeks.

I am not dieting.

But I seem to be losing weight bit-by-bit. Bump continues to grow and expand.

Any ideas?

I would think that loss of muscle mass accounts for some of it. Maybe because baby is pushing up against your stomach you're getting full quicker and not eating as much without realising too?

As long as the medical people are aware but not concerned then I wouldn't worry c

I think everyone s body seems to do its own thing in pregnancy. It's really good news baby is growing well. If the midwife is not concerned, try not to worry.

I've not lost weight but I've basically plateaued. I was 64kg to start with ( I also lift weights) and I've gained around 1.5 kilos total, now 21 weeks. I was the same at 19 weeks which is worrying me but bump is growing. I've also dramatically cut down on the exercise, maybe that's it?

Forgot to add - I am eating more than usual since I'd not gained anything at 18 weeks. I've added snacks.

Thanks everyone!

I suspect the baby acting as a gastric band thing might be likely. I feel like I'm eating as usual. But maybe I'm not.

And gosh - I miss lifting! Just before I got my BFP I was squatting 70+ kilos and deadlifting around 110 kilos. Now picking up a shopping bag feels like hard work :/

Have you completely stopped? I've just cut about 50% of the weight on my squat and moved to about 35kg on the deadlifts. My PT has just been adapting things, I take longer breaks, shorter sets etc. I feel well so I'm just being careful.

I'm also only training 3 times a week.
