30 weeks - can feel baby’s head in cervix?

Yesterday I had been getting aching in my cervix. I Went to the toilet and had a feel and my finger slipped into my cervix easily but only one ☝️. By the first knuckle I could feel something really hard and round - is this the baby’s head? It was so hard and did not move when I gently pressed. Clear to white jelly like discharge came out onto my finger.

Has anyone else felt this? Then gone into labour?

I’m 30 weeks pregnant and have just been discharged from hospital after 5 days of threatened preterm labour. My first DD was born at 32 weeks.

Sorry not sure what I did there! It could well be a sign that labour is going to happen early again but not necessarily. When you have already had a baby before it's not unusual for the cervix to be a little bit open already and for the head to be in the pelvis some days and not on others.
Try not to touch your cervix though as this will stimulate it to labour in a similar way that it does when women have a sweep done.

Well the jelly will be part of your mucus plug. I imagine it will be the baby’s head, but I don’t think it’s advisable to be touching your cervix just now, especially not if you’ve had threatened preterm labour. Not only could you set things off, almost like a sweep (probably unlikely) but I think the infection risk would be a concern...

Babies heads can be engaged and down for awhile before birth! It could move as well...

Hi I won’t be touching my cervix again it freaked me out I didn’t even try to do it my finger just went in and stopped at the hard bit (head) so my cervix must be low? Oh I feel awful now incase things happen again! I really want to get further than last time and ideally to term!

Both of mine engaged really early, around 30w I think. With DD1 I was induced at 40+5 and she still didn't want to come out!

DD2 was definitely further down, the Dr commented how low she was at every appointment. I had to take a pessary around 34w because of a UTI. TMI alert - I only got my finger in as far as the knuckle and I felt her head. I think if I'd sneezed too hard she would have fallen out! She arrived at 38+1 really easily - no pain relief at all and 2-3 pushes.

Hopefully your little one will stay in there for another 7 weeks!

Wow sounds like you could feel exactly what I could. And still made it to 38 that’s reassuring I’m convinced she will come any day now that I’ve felt her head..
