I've recently put water birth in my plan as that's what I would preferably like to try out , I understand doesn't always go to plan but anyway I would like to hear everyone's stories about their water birth and the pros and if so cons of one😌
I'll be having my baby at darent valley in dartford

I had really hoped for a water birth. When I arrived at the hospital 9cm dilated I jumped straight into the pool and had a lovely hour or so on gas and air in the warm water.

Sadly, my contractions totally stopped and nothing got them started again until I went onto a syntocinon drip some hours later. I ended up with an instrumental delivery in theatre. Nobody ever mentioned the possibility that the water could slow down or stop my labour but I've since learnt that this is a relatively common phenomenon.

I really wanted a water birth but once I actually got in the pool I hated it. I almost felt chlostropobic with each contraction, as if the water was drowning me a little. It didn't relax me at all and I didn't last long in there. I did think maybe the water had been too hot and the heat was just using up more energy ( I can't stand hot baths). Funnily enough an hour or so later my contractions pretty much stopped and I needed to put on the drip. I've never heard or read about a water birth slowing them down but that could explain why mine did.
