Second trimester headaches

I’m almost 20 weeks. All this week I’ve been having horrific headaches mainly to the left side of my head, but at times has felt like a band right around my head. The pain isn’t too bad when I’m sitting still, but feels like my head is splitting when I move. I’ve been taking paracetamol which does help and takes away the pain for about 4 hours, but then it always comes back. I’ve been like this since Monday and each day the pain seems worse than the day before. Today the paracetamol has helped slightly, but only taken away some of the pain, and I feel really sick too.
I have an appointment for my 20 week scan on Monday and was going to mention it then, but I’m not sure whether to call triage today and mention it to them? I know it’s most likely nothing and I don’t want to waste anyone’s time, but I feel I need some reassurance. Baby seems fine and I can feel her kicking away.
Can anybody offer any advice?

In both my pregnancies I've had 2nd trimester migraines and the past week or so has been particularly bad; I think the hot weather/ air pressure brings them on.

That said, headaches can also be a symptom of pre-eclampsia which can be dangerous, and the NHS advice is to seek medical advice immediately, so calling triage is probably a good idea.

My midwife was very kind, and insistent that getting things checked is never a waste of time even if everything is ok (which it was for me...just migraines!) That's their job after all. Hope you feel better soon.

I suffered in my second pregnancy, pre eclampsia needs to be ruled out also increase your water intake this helped stop headaches in my first pregnancy.
My headaches were put down to hormones and they lasted until around 30 weeks.

Thanks to you both

I think the heat is partly to blame too, and I’ve not been sleeping well because of the heat. I’m going to have a nap and see how I feel afterwards. My head doesn’t feel as bad this afternoon, isn’t that typical haha. I’m glad though!

I suffer from headaches badly all the time, so I expected the same in pregnancy. I swear by my 4head stick which always helps. But if you're worried if mention it. Better safe than sorry.

I’ve decided to wait til Monday when I’m there anyway. The pain has eased and I’m managing it without paracetamol this afternoon. A nap helped. Think the heat and being tired didn’t help. Thanks everyone Smile
