Growth scan

So had 28 week midwife appt yesterday, and my bump is measuring 25cm instead of 28cm so about 3 weeks behind. I’ve been referred for a growth scan at St Michael’s hospital Bristol but haven’t had a phone call or letter about time/date.
When my midwife said my bump is a bit behind I got upset as I started thinking the worse (although have since calmed down as baby moves daily even if not a lot because of my anterior placenta). I didn’t really listen to what she was saying about the growth scan. I think she said that I should have a call or letter in the next 3 days and my scan by Tuesday, but I’m not sure.
Has anyone had a growth scan? How long did it take for them to contact you about date and time? Or am I supposed to contact them? Little bit confused !

I haven’t had a growth scan at St Michael’s as o love in Weston but I am due to have my baby there. I’d call them and ask them if they can check for you. Whenever I go in I’m asked to call the delivery bit but if your Bristol based you may have a different number for their maternity triage to try

Also I forgot to say my need for growth scans was identified at 14 weeks after a bleed but the one time I was in st Michael’s for reduced movements i got a call the next day to arrange a scan (in Weston but still it was St Michael’s that made the referral)

I’m going through the same thing. I had my 25week appointment but my normal midwife couldn’t make it so I saw someone I’d never met. She measured me at 25cm and said it was too small (even though I thought it was average?) and referred me for a growth scan.

She said I’d get a call but didn’t give a timeframe. 2 weeks later I still haven’t heard anything so I’m going to see what my midwife says at my 28 week appointment next week.

Hope you get some answers.

Because my midwife said in the next 3 days, I’m leaving it till at least Saturday. If nothing by Sunday, then I will call st Michael’s or my midwives just to get some answers!

@Flamingo84 your measurement sounds bang on for your weeks, so abit weird they referred you! Maybe the hospital thought the referral wasn’t necessary, except if that was the case would have been nice for them to at least let you know!

I’m trying to stay chill, I have a 29 week 4D scan next week and am looking forward to it. Am hoping my baby is growing properly and I guess il find out either at the growth scan or the 4D one if the growth scan doesn’t get back to me in time.
Staying positive 🤞

@Gem173 that’s what I’ve been thinking too! She was a really odd midwife to be honest. She also referred me for physio for round ligament pain even after I told her it was mild. Fingers crossed my normal lady is back!

Lots of people on here have mentioned how inaccurate the bump measurement process is. I know it scares you when you hear that they think the baby is too small but I’m taking it with a pinch of salt.

Enjoy your 4D scan!

I would just ring you midwife back and ask

babydreamer1 · 07/06/2018 20:09

Just ring the hospital, they won't mind at all. Lots can go wrong with communication so best to just check tomorrow than wait.
