Hello ladies, I am 7 weeks pregnant and at 5 weeks I had really bad bleeding and cramping, I had a scan and the yolk sac was seen, I then had really bad bleeding again 3 days after that so was told to go in for another scan and was told all was well, could see the baby and a lovely little heartbeat. Then last night I had another bleed but this was a really big one, it stopped this morning but has started again this evening. The nurse told me unless it’s accompanied with severe pain then not to worry, but if I have pains to phone them. I’m not in any pain I’m just bleeding a lot. I don’t want to be an annoyance especially because I’m so early and there’s nothing they can do anyway but I don’t know whether I should be ignoring the bleeding :-( I never had this with my little girl so ive no idea what to do any advice would be massively appreciated xxxx

Hi there,

I would contact your EPU- all bleeding should be investigated even if it isn’t accompanied by pain. If nothing else, it will ease your mind finding out what is going on. I spotted on and off in this pregnancy until 8 weeks when I had a big bleed, accompanied with clots. I went for a scan and all was fine. I’m almost 19 weeks now. So, bleeding isn’t always a bad sign but you should definitely get checked out xx

RNaoxx · 09/06/2018 09:50

Thank you for your reply, I left it that night as I had no pain but unfortunately it started again yesterday even worse. I went to a and e and they told me that they wouldn’t send me up to epu because there’s not a lot of point it’s just a case of wait and see what happens. I’m so confused I don’t understand how I’ll know if anything’s happened, do I still go to the 12 week scan??? Just so stressful :-( xxx

As hard as it sounds just try stay calm and keep calling for advice if the bleeding persists. I ended up with a trip to A&E but they weren't too bothered as it wasnt deemed "heavy" enough and sent me home. I eventually got a scan at the EPU and found out everything was fine. The nurse advised me that some people just bleed through their pregnancy and as I didn't have any blood in the sac or any other area they weren't concerned.

I'm 9 weeks and I have had 4 worrying bleeds so far lasting around 2-3 days each so it's not always bad news!

Absolutely keep your appointments unless you are told otherwise x

I had loads of blooding with my first child, massive clots it was awful. Consultant obstetrician said it's fine as the baby was fine, as was your baby, so try to take some comfort. The placenta invades the uterine wall early in pregnancy so perhaps it's that

RNaoxx · 09/06/2018 13:48

I’ve just had a big bleed and big clots also in a lot of pain so I don’t think it’s looking positive. Phoned epu and they’ve booked me in on Monday morning for a scan, thank you anyway ladies xx

Ah you poor thing. Best of luck and I really hope it's not a miscarriage. Don't ever feel like you're ringing them too much-that's what they're there for Flowers

RNaoxx · 10/06/2018 19:57

The wait until tomorrow is killing me:-( unfortunately I’m still bleeding and in a lot of pain so I think that’s it. I’m dreading the scan in the morning, I already pretty much know what they’ll say I just don’t want to hear them say it if that makes sense. Thank you all for replying to me it means a lot xxx

Just wanted to say good luck with your scan tomorrow OP, I've read your thread and can't offer any advice (sorry Sad) but didn't want to read an run!

I really hope everything is okay with you and baby Thanks

Iswallowtoothpaste · 10/06/2018 21:29

@RNaoxx I’m so sorry that you’ve been kept in this limbo. The days feel like weeks when you’re going through something like this.

Really hoping for the best outcome tomorrow.

RNaoxx · 10/06/2018 21:47

It’s been awful, I know that doctors need time off but I really do think that they should have doctors doing the scans on weekends, the wait has been torturous 😭 I’m trying to have the tiniest bit of hope but I really don’t think there is any and I would rather be told what I’m expecting than get my hopes up just to be disappointed if that makes sense xxx

Flowers - the not knowing is horrible isn't it. Here's a hand hold.

KoshaMangsho · 10/06/2018 21:56

Unfortunately it’s not doctors who do the scans. And to do scans you need everyone else. The receptionist, the cleaners, the full body of staff. And that’s not possible to fund. I have been there, over a weekend desperate for a scan (I was past 12 weeks at that point) and didn’t have a good outcome. Again I didn’t have much pain and it wasn’t an ectopic so they made me wait despite the mental agony.
My sister had two ectopics and those were dealt with much more promptly.
Unfortunately in early pregnancy there is not much they can do about bleeding or to save the pregnancy. I had a second much more complicated pregnancy and past the 24 week point they swung into action even on weekends to keep both him and me alive (he was born v prematurely and had a long stint in intensive care but is fine today).
You have my full sympathy though. I hope you have a positive outcome if not tomorrow, then in the near future. ❤️❤️

Will be thinking of you tomorrow Flowers

Emelene · 10/06/2018 22:41

Thinking of you OP. Do you have someone to go with you to the scan tomorrow? Thanks xx

RNaoxx · 10/06/2018 22:45

I know that it’s not possible for them to do it I just wish they could 😔 my partners working and my sisters looking after my little girl for me so I’m going on my own but I think I’d prefer that, thank you everyone xxxx

Handhold op

bunnyrabbit93 · 10/06/2018 23:10

Hand hold OP. Waiting for a scan is horrible when I had a ectopic I went to the hospital Friday evening told they will scan me in the morning then had sever pain so a consultant scanned me and said there was free fluid in my abdomen so I asked what does this mean and he said I don't know im not a sonograph Hmm so it's definitely best to have the right people

Emelene · 11/06/2018 16:45

I went to the scan and the lady said everything is absolutely fine!! I couldn’t believe what I was hearing!! She checked everything and said that there was no bleeding around the baby, that my cervix is closed and everything is how it should be, baby has also grown and she said has a very strong heartbeat. She told me that I’m just someone who’s going to bleed but I still don’t understand considering the pain and clots. I came home and after an hour had a big bleed again which is still ongoing, I’m trying to reassure myself, could it be from the scan as it was internal? When I had DD1 I had six internal stitches so I’m not sure if it’s the scars from those that have been irritated and now I’m wishing I’d asked but I was crying too much to think of anything else, I think I’ll stop stressing when I hit a safer point or when baby arrives! And I’ll probably still stress then lol, thank you so much everyone 💕

Starting to get really worried :-(

Eeekkkk that’s absolutely fantastic news OP I’m so happy and relieved for you! I had some bleeding with my DD although no clots etc but everything turned out to be fine, I had an examination after spotting this time and it turns out that I have cervical ectropion which is basically a graze on the cervix which gets irritated due to the increased blood flow during pregnancy. Have also heard of cervical polyps which can bleed too.

preggersteach · 11/06/2018 17:33

Amazing news! Congratulations xx
