Hi, I have a really bad cough at the moment. Its not chesty, its a bit dry, but its almost constant. Has been going on for a few weeks so Im presuming its viral.
Each time i cough it puts pressure on my uterus and bladder. Wonder if this is dangerous?

Also, does anyone know if ricola or other cough lozenges are ok to take?
I know I should see a dr, but have been living at the surgery lately...
Im about 11 weeks..
thankyou

Your baby won't be affected by your cough. They are well cushioned in there so try not to worry! I'm not sure whether or not cough lozenges are ok. Could you ring your MW or NHS Direct?

i dont know how true it is but i got told(or did i read it) i cant remember but i 'found out' apparently when you have a cough when youre pregnant or have sneezes or anything like that, you had to support your stomach with your hand, i think its just so you dont pull a muscle or something, i dont know how true it is and am trying not to believe everythin i read but it is SO hard because i want whats best for my darling unborn baby

Hi Vannah. I had an extremely tight chest in my first trimester and was also coughing constantly. Turns out it was just anxiety that was making my chest tight (had a mc earlier that year), but the doctor gave me and asthma pump (which didn't help much), but kept on reassuring me that baby would be fine. Go back to the surgery if you are worried.

thanks all,
might have to go to gp anyway and get asthma pump as cant find my old one.

I didn't think to ask about ricola sweets, ate them almost permenantly during my first trimester as they really helped the nausea... baby's ok needless to say. I don't think there's much of an active ingredient in them.
