Are steroid injections really needed if I am 38 weeks? (Section at 39 weeks)

I have appointments today and tomorrow for steroid injections before my section on the 14th, I had them before my last two c sections because they were done at 35 and 37 weeks but this time baby will be born at 39. Are the injections still necessary at this stage? I thought they were just for baby if they wasn't considered full term? If I have them will baby still be okay if they are not needed? Thank you x

No, I don't think so. I asked for my section at 37 +1 as baby was so big (a 10lb) and I was suffering from SPD and horrendous pain and discomfort. Very reluctant to do it and had to agree to steroid injections. Wouldn't have needed them if had booked the section at 38 weeks.

I had a planned section at 39+1 and didn't have them. Not even mentioned.
Dd was measuring a decent size though - she was 9.14 when she was born. Do they think baby is small?

Thank you for your replies. Baby was measuring slightly bigger at my last scan. No mention of being small. My first was 3lbs12 but my youngest was over 8lbs and no complications.
