Been on and off crying for hours very upset. Anyway now I go to get up because I'm supposed to be eating around this time of the evening not that I'm hungry and my tummy is hard and scared I'm starting labour or something. Waiting for doctor to call me back will be an hour. Maternity ward not answering... Anyone had this?

How many weeks are you? Could it be braxton hicks?

darceybussell · 06/06/2018 19:55

Sounds like it could be Braxton Hicks to me - I've had it a few times a day from about 20 weeks.

UniversalTruth · 06/06/2018 19:56

When I had this I was dehydrated. I hope everything is fine for you.

What do you mean, you've had a shock? The hardening is almost certainly braxton hicks contractions. I find they are worse when dehydrated, or when I need a wee, or if I've just done something a little energetic like push my daughter in the swing.

How pregnant are you op and is this your first baby?

socksonradiator · 06/06/2018 20:14

Yes, I agree it sounds exactly like Braxton hicks. Tummy as hard as a stone and slightly painful. It will probably get a little more intense and then start to ease off as quickly as it came on.
Please keep ringing the maternity ward if you are worried; they won't leave the phones unmanned for long. I'm sure it's a coincidence and not anything to do with you being so emotionally upset.
You and baby are both going to be fine and someone will be ringing you soon.
Sending hugs ((())) and hoping that someone can be with you soon to make you feel better.
