How much would you bug them?

As per the procedure round here, I rang the midwife when I found out I was pregnant to let them know - I was about 5 weeks. She took personal details over the phone, and said they would ideally see me for booking in before I was 10 weeks.

I didn't hear anything else, so last Friday (8.5 weeks) I rang and left a message asking about an appointment, but no one got back to me. I rang again yesterday (9 weeks) and left another message, again, no one has got back to me.

I'm just bothered because they will book the scan at the appointment, and obviously that needs to be within a certain window. Also, I work, so will probably need to organise time off for the appointment.

How much would you bug them about it, vs assume you are in the system and they would get round to you? I don't want to be irritating, but don't want to get missed! Every time I've rang up so far I've got the answerphone, so have just had to leave a message.

Hard to say. Have you tried them at different times of day? The midwife team by me is only in the office 9-10 am. I hate leaving messages so if I was you I'd just keep ringing until I get hold of someone, and not leave any more messages, but that can be hard if you are at work.

My scan was booked separately - the referral was made at the same time as my referral for a booking appointment. So difficult to say as every region does things differently!

I'd keep bugging them. I rang the mw at 5-6 weeks and was told to wait and they didn't get me in until I was 10-11 weeks which would have been fine but then there was some referral cock up meaning I didn't get my scan until I was 13+5 weeks. Dd wouldn't co operate to have the nt thickness measured and they couldn't have me back as they would ordinarily as I was so late on and the scan was on a Friday. Just hassle where there needn't be any.

Definitely keep calling. My antenatal team would pick up the phone super early or reply to messages the next day. My postnatal team didn’t return calls.
